Am I going crazy? Android Messages missing?

Hello everyone! I recently switched from my stock Samsung sms app to Android messages (which I love!) I did this because I wanted to try out the web version of Android messages. The problem is I am missing text messages my friends and family are sending me. Allow me to illustrate:
Me: Why didn't your respond to my test last night?
Friend: I did! I will show you on my phone!
Me: Well... sh*t.
Should I switch back to the stock Samsung texting app?
Thanks everyone!!

You can also clear the default on the Samsung one, if it's set. That should prompt you to choose A.M. as default when you open it.
Clementine,
Thanks for responding. It was set as my default message app. I guess I was looking to see if anyone else was having the same issues? I just uninstalled it, which stinks because I really liked it. I use my phone for business and Android Messenger was making me paranoid.
Maybe it has bugs because it is still new (the web integration?)

You should just have Android Messages on your phone and then all you do is go to https://messages.android.com/ on your laptop/PC (after you enable it in the app) then scan the QR and you should be all set.

Messages
Drop down menu, click 'Messages for web'
Website https://messages.android.com/
Scan
Save site on web

You don't need whatever you downloaded???
