after trying to unlock the bootloader myself, it seems like it needs a key, like motorola does for their phones, but it isnt on their list of supported devices on the website.

unlocking the bootloader on lg phones are largly the same from what i can remember, once you are in the bootloader of this one tho, it askes for a key

You gotta think, the Stylo 4 just came out. I'd start working on it but I'm not too keen to brick mine just yet.

Stylo 4 is not listed on LGs Unlockable Bootloader device list.
No Root for this phone.
Reason I returned my Stylo 4 and got the K20 Plus.
Rooted running RR custom rom and custom kernel.
Bad LG for locking down like zte did the zmax pro.

I know it's not on there, LG is ignoring the low end devices. I said you should try it since it might work, my sister's cheap moto e isn't on Motorola's bootloader unlock list but it still worked with the code unlock like LG is doing. Still not the same brands but it might work, we won't know till someone tries. Even if this device can be unlocked via this code method on LG's website, I'd still get a redmi note over this phone simply because it's got better specs, more support, and is cheaper. Anyways, if someone still has a stylo 4 please try to unlock it with the method they have on their website.

Me and a few others have already tried..
Error...
QM710 is not supported blah blah..
You have 9 attempts left... If you try too many times your account will be locked...
Trust me I tried only once..

LG will not unlock the bootloader on this phone period....
An unofficial way will need to be done.
The popularity of this device is not as popular as the zmax pro and that device never saw free root.
So again, No root for this phone..

I think a dev did get root on it but he's shady and greedy so forget both phoned and get redmi note 4 or 5, they got better specs and are both under 200 and have so much support it makes you wanna forget getting root for this phone

From what I think i seen, Redmi phone ROMs have issues. Almost every ROM.. Stick with Motorola if ya want Root and decent custom ROMs as they're the only ones looking out for us Developers and those that want Root

Edit. BTW, our Moto E4 & E4 Plus ROMs work on near any Carrier now if ya do the procedure correctly

Meh, I'll stick with my stylo 2 plus for now. I plan to get a oneplus 6 by the end of the year, or some really nice phone.

That sounds cool.. A buddy of mine had his OP5 stolen and they got all his account stuff cuz they don't have screen locks. Good luck

I just got the Stylo 4 and so far all is well. My Stylo 3 plus took a dive and didn't make it....

Anyways it's been awhile since i have been here, so hello everyone.

Bad choice. If you needed a device then there you go but you could get a redmi note for under 200,even the newest one and they got better specs and a cheaper price

I don't know about y'all but this is by far, the WORST phone I've ever owned, period. It lags like no tomorrow and is constantly turning itself on in my pocket. It also loves to call voicemail, continuously. Before everyone slams me, I've been into the rooting, custom ROMS thing since donut and I've worked as an XDA and Androidheadlines newswriter so it's not me, this phone SUCKS!
