Help Daily Mail app fails to update

The Daily Mail app works perfectly on my Android phone, but periodically it will not update the articles. The list of articles I have been reading one day sometimes remains the next day, even if I click 'Sync all favourites'.
The only way I can correct this is be uninstalling the app and re-installing. Then, of course, I have to re-register in order to post comments.
Is there a permanent way of ensuring the app is always able to update, please?

I've had issues syncing data on my Galaxy Tab E 9.6 tablet running Android 7.1.1 when Power Saving mode is enabled, which by default restricts background network (Wi-Fi) usage. Disabling Power Saving mode or customizing it to allow background network usage has always resolved my sync issues.

What device and Android version are you having this issue with?

Thanks for your response, srglassw.

No, I don't use Power Saving mode unless the battery is becoming quite low, so I don't think that can be it.

Now the DM app is working properly again (for the time being) I do often get a message that 'the app has stopped working', and find that seems to happen when the article list is updated.

It's an LE Nexus 5

Android version 6.0.1
