My Note 4 goes Bong! at random times

I have fought this Bong! sound for months now.

I uninstalled nearly all of the non-Verizon apps that came with the phone, and that didn't seem to help.
So, I did a System Reset which has caused me untold grief!!!
almost as bad as a Factory Reset. although, it left the remaining apps in place so my email and weather maps stayed put.

it stayed quiet for about 2 weeks and I thought all was good.
Then I installed Google Calendar "again" and the very next morning, I get a Bong! at 06:30

I used to have an app on the phone that would clean house of left over debris after uninstalling an app, and I can't remember the name of it. I have all of the apps backed up on the SDcard, and the phone is rooted on 4.4.4

it has a Definitive ROM on it....

I am looking for answers on how to get rid of this demon, i am sure that it is buried in the system files somewhere.
No Notifications period, there is no clue as to what is doing this.

If you have exhausted your resources on where to locate and stop that sound. It's always a good ideal to check G Google in your device <Settings> and stroll down to <Connected apps> most likely there is where your culprit will be in this location. It contain websites and apps you had and gave permission to link to your device and most likely deleted but forgot to disconnect them from your device.

MacroDroid turns OFF both Data and WiFi when the screen is locked, the only thing that gets thru that is SMS from Verizon. I don't allow the internet to access my phone when I am not actively looking at it.

Hi AZ, I'm not sure if this has something to do with the peel remote app, I know I have read about it before but old age has made my memory a little hazy. Phil

Peel Remote has been vanquished, never used it anyway. not even on the phone anymore.

appreciate the insights, but this thing is random.... did not bother me last night, but it dinged a few times during the day yesterday waking me up at 0630 was not fun... I am a night owl

"Connected Apps" is not in my Settings menu, Definitive ROM left a few things out....
the only thing relating to 'connect apps' is Sync settings for Accounts.

I hate gremlins that don't leave a trace behind them.
I feel that something is in the OS somehow, but can't prove that.

This is not a notification? Odd if something is not there in notification list.
I mentioned on another thread that looking at Settings > APPS > Application manager (hide system apps in the top right settings)
If you have Crome check this first. Click on Chrome > Notifications > More Settings > and look around there. A few sites might be listed. You can turn off Chrome notifications all together.
If Chrome is not the culprit brows the apps that have notification privilege and see if one of them is not using the default sound if it has a More Settings option. ( calendar others from google do this)

Chrome is not on the phone, the top right corner of my settings/apps/ 3 dots, only shows sort up/dn & Reset Preferences, & uninstall multiple.... this phone is rooted on 4.4.4 Definitive ROM Mods.... the only browser that is active is FennecDroid.
since I put that on, it is not as much of a problem, but it still occasionally bongs at me... and never is there a Notification in the pull down list.

I have gone thru every app in /settings/apps and turned OFF notifications on every single one except for Textra.
Google Calendar can't do anything as MacroDroid turns off Data & WiFi when the screen locks. and I have Notifications on it turned off anyway.

this really aggravates me, as I can't get desired Notifications except from Textra and the Phone ringing for an incoming call.

I have been giving a lot of consideration to trying to install the latest Note 7 Version ROM which has been made for the Note 4...

if I had experience with installing ROMs, I would do that in a heart beat. Just a bit nervous about experimenting with the only phone that I have to use.
