while listening to Pandora with headphones (using my iphone ear buds), noticing significant static/popping while listening to Pandora... a little better if you turn on the high quality option in the preferences, but still present... QUITE annoying...

anyone else notice??

I haven't run into this with Pandora. Could it be clipping? Do you still hear it if you lower the volume a few notches? Does it happen with the earbuds that were bundled with the Nexus One?

definitely not clipping... as volume is way low... and i know what clipping is... it's not it...

running Pandora again this morning and the issue seems to be gone... so dunno!? at first i though because i switched to the Nexus ear buds... but then i switched back to my iphone bud and the problem wasn't there... go figure...

i will say this - the Nexus One ear buds sounds like $H!T!!!!! Waaaay too trebley and very little bass... my iphone ear buds BLOW them away... oh... and the Nexus buds are also waaaay less loud for same volume setting... they truly do suck... do yourselves a favour and try out different ear phones... don't have to be the iphone buds (I just had them already)... I guarantee anything will be better than the Nexus ones!

Go into the settings and set it to high quality....default is low and it pops and crackles a lot. Not sure how T-Mobile can handle high quality tho.

i had this enabled... but maybe for some weird reason it hadn't taken effect yet? anyways... on high now, running my iphone buds, and very clear... no more popping... hopefully it's an isolated incident!

cheers

I've noticed this, as well. I never considered the iPhone earbuds to be very good but they are definitely better than the Nexus One buds, which sound anemic and brutally harsh in comparison. Maybe they were trying to match them to the crappy speaker on the back of the phone. :D

You guys just need to get a pair of these Sennheiser USA - Dynamic Stereo Headphones - HD 800, High Performance - Private Audio :)

Actually just tried them with my N1 not nearly a good enough power source. Moving back to my headroom desktop max dac and amp.. lol

'Not exactly feasible when you're cycling in the hot Florida sun! :D I stick to the standard iphone earbuds when on the bike - they have acceptable audio quality for workouts and are easy to replace when they soak up too much sweat and die.

I tried my Shure in-ear buds while riding once... never again! After 30 minutes of riding hard on the bike, my head seemed to develop a vacuum - the Shures came out with a painful POP!

I haven't been real impressed with the Sennheiser cans in recent years; they seem to have lost some of that magic air that they had previously. I have a pair of Grado RS1 cans right now and while they're not as comfortable as some of the Sennys, they're still plenty comfortable and I've been very pleased with their sound. They're very musical but still have good accuracy, which is important to me for acoustic guitar recordings.

I don't use the Grados with my Nexus One (or with any previous phone), tho. They just highlight the fact that these little players don't put out audiophile quality sound, even when pumped thru a good DAC and Amp (I have a Benchmark DAC1 Pre). The Shures are more than adequate for portable devices.
