Any suggestions on buying an older model LG or Samsung phone? I have a stylo 3 plus but I don't like nougat.
Looking for MetroPCS version because Metro says that my old att phone wouldn't get calls at my house because it wasn't one of theirs.

I was looking at Samsung note 4 until I read about the “mmc_read failed” error
I was looking at Samsung note 5 until I found out that a Non-removable battery

I didn't have any problems with the older models and all I want is a phone that works correctly.

Just be carfull how old you go back as far as device/OS/build. The further one goes back an OS the less security the device in tails.

Yes Don't because it's not guaranteed that the device will be supported after the longevity of one or two years after it's debut date., so I would lean towards getting a newer device because in the likely hood the manufacturers will still have support for it. And secondly buying use device online is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're going to get.

LG G4 is a good deal now, it has everything you need, plenty of RAM, SD card slot, removable battery...

And the screen is very good, get a good case and screen protector and enjoy life.

I just received the LG G4 in the mail and didn't realize how small of a screen it has any suggestions for something with a screen comparable to the Stylo 3?

Just looked it up why does it seem so similar but it's not

5.5 inches, 82.2 cm
5.7 inches, 89.6 cm

Maybe I have the wrong phone I'll look again when I get home

Now i read that the LG G4 has a bootloop defect so I'm not even going to try for the non Leon G4.

Get a T-Mobile branded unlocked phone of an older flagship. Some of them are pre-nougat (depending on when the device came out). If you can find one still on Marshmallow or Lollipop is the issue.

Any idea on which phone specifically would help here. Just looking for something with a 5 inch screen thst is rootable

True, I suppose I got suckered by the name in the Amazon ad and wound up with the small screen Leon instead of the LG G4 (error not known about at the time)

Both are not suitable for me the Leon is too small and I'm no longer interested in the LG G4 because of the error.

Hopefully this thread will recover from this tangent and come up with a good specific suggestion for 5 inch, root-able phone that can hold its own.

What about the LG G Stylo. It's rootable and only goes to Marshmallow

Thanks for the suggesting the LG G Stylo looking into looks like it will work.

✔- 5 inch screen and rootable :)
✔- didn't find much when looking for errors or faults. A secure booting error but that seemed to be usually brought on by user error :)
✔- There's a MetroPCS version also :)
