Move media FROM the SD card

This morning I use Settings | Storage | SD Card | Storage Settings to move my photos and movies to my SD card.

I am unhappy with how sluggish they load from the card. I have less than 3 GB of media files, and I have over 12 GB of internal storage left.

How do I move these files back to internal storage in such a way that Gallery (actually, QuickPic) will see them?

Thanks.

(BTW, is there a way to search this forum so I don't need to bother members with questions that were answered three years ago, when this phone came out?)

Install a file manager app from the Play Store and that will allow you transfer files/folders. There are plenty to choose from, try 'Explorer':
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.explorer
or just do a search for 'file manager' and read through the feature lists of each, and take a look at the screen captures, they all have the same basic functionality but differ as far as the user interface so pick one that you're most comfortable using.

Thanks. I understand how to move files with a file manager, but my question is how to move them back to internal storage in such a way that Gallery (actually, QuickPic) will see them. I.e., what directory(ies) should they be moved to.

The default folder for camera photos is commonly named 'DCIM' (for Digital Camera IMages) so your photo managing app will probably be already set to detect files in that folder. But a lot of texting apps and browser apps rely on 'Downloads' for their default save folder so that's also probably set to be auto-scanned.
But if you're looking for where to move those photos, just dump them in that DCIM folder.
Look in the QuickPic app's Settings menu to see if there's an option stating what folders it auto-scans for photos.

I found that all the photos and movies were in the Download directory on the SD card, so I just moved that directory over the top of the Download directory in internal storage. Everything is good again.

The best app I found is ….
A+ Gallery Phots & Videos – organizer for photos and videos
… It has a number of ways to organize the groups that are displayed. One that I have found in no other app is to group all the images created in a specific year.

QuickPic from Cheetah Mobile cannot be trusted and should not be installed. My list of apps that report bad information and.or send my data to their office on China ...

AnTuTu Benchmark – compare your device to other devices – AuTuTu Tools
Boat Browser – internet browser
Clean Master – optimizer, speed booster. and anti-virus – Cheetah Mobile
Dolphin Browser – internet browser
ES File Exp/Man – manipulate device and cloud folders and files – ES Global
ES File Exp/Man Pro – manipulate device and cloud folders and files – ES Global
File Manager – manipulate device and cloud folders and files – Cheetah Mobile
File Manager HD – manipulate device and cloud folders and files – Cheetah Mobile
QuickPic Gallery – photo gallery – Cheetah Mobile

For those who might not know … he is talking about QuickPic before it was purchased by Cheetah Mobile who then "improved it" to transfer files from your device at will to their office in China for resale.

Files like …
Your photo album of naked chickens reproducing.
Your contact list(s).
Your browser history(s) showing every place you have visited since the last time you remembered to wipe browser history.
The apps you have installed.
The "questionable" apps you have installed.

It was my app of choice that I recommend to others until Cheetah Mobile decided to "Improve" it.

And the answer to your next question of why is it allowed on Play Store? The answer is … read the user agreement that you authorized so you could use it.
