Help Android 7.1.1 update rendered my display sleep settings void

After my tablet updated, my display screen settings were NOT changed; rather, they were made irrelevant. Despite being still set to 5 minutes, the display now remains on for a total of about 8 seconds and then goes off if undisturbed. It is irrelevant if I have an application launched or not - it fades out at about 8 seconds. I tried changing the display sleep setting to 30 minutes, but it made no difference. The only other setting I can find that comes to play here is the security setting, but it matches whatever is set in the display sleep setting. I rebooted; nothing. The only thing worse than an update changing your settings is when it totally renders them null and void. Is there a fix for this, please?

Neither can I find a way to "un-install" the latest update. Bummer.

10/26/17: This is absolutely absurd Android. It drives me crazy that I can't uninstall that freaking update and my screen keeps going off every little bit when I'm trying to read something on it. I have to try and keep my finger on it and move it constantly without that causing some other unwanted action. So... I guess I need to backup and do the factory reset on this thing. Ridiculous.

I Have the same issue. After an hour on the phone they told me I needed to do a factory reset. I was reluctant but I did the reset. It did not fix the problem - it reset the tablet with 7.1.1 which is the version that is causing the problem. All it did was get rid of my data. Now they are telling I need to return the tablet which could take up to 3 weeks. If they send me a new K88 with 7.1.1 it would have the same issue. They need to fix version 7.1.1 !!!!!!

I have had this issue before with an Oppo phone, with the screen going off after 10 seconds and completely ignoring the user settings for it.

Absolutely, it's on the collective Android community to "RESOLVE" this issue.

With my phone this was definitely a bug in their update, which Oppo subsequently fixed with another update. So it's very likely it's up to ZTE to "RESOLVE" their issue. Could be worth the "community" reporting it to them, filing bug-reports to ZTE. There's probably nothing else can be done, not until ZTE fixes the problem they created in this tablet.

Ok. A bug on my ZTE device that only manifested itself after I updated to 7.1.1. My settings worked fine until after that update.

I believe you guys; it just defies my comprehension the way this came about. Situation Normal. :)

I suppose when I contact ZTE, I shouldn't mention the Android update?

ZTE Z982 model is useless now, updated to 7.1.1 and the display settings had 15 seconds to 10 minutes selections and also never, the update now only allows 15, 30 and 1 minute.
I continue also getting system UI is not responding.
I called support and they had me hold up arrow and power and delete cache partition. Reboot and still both issues. Support said next step is to do factory reset, losing all data.
I performed and still doing both issues. I always purchased LG prior for the last 18 years.
ZTE obviously doesn't want to spend the small amount with their R&D to fix this bug.
Won't ever buy another ZTE again. Going back to LG. Never had this type of issue with LG ever. If I had any problems they always had a fix.

ZTE fix your expensive hardware before you lose all your customers.
Ridiculous...
