Not sure if there's an easier way to do it but i have "astro folder manager" installed. (its in the Android marketplace) use it to find your "downloads" folder on your phone. This is all done on your phone. No pc necessary. Anyways look for your downloads folder. make sure look on your memery card and phone memory cuz I can't remember which mine was in. You should see a YouTube icon. Select it and you should be presented with either an update or install option (can't remember). It should install and replace your original youtube app. You have to go into the aps settings to have "high quality" as default.

Thanks alot for this! Some people are trying to figure out an easy method to download and install this. Here is what I have been doing:

I created a Dropbox account and downloaded the Free app on my phone. I simply download the APK on my PC, move the file to my Dropbox folder on my PC, and then open the Dropbox app on the phone. I can then see the APK. I choose it and it installs. Easy as can be and no need to use Astro or other folder manager and move files back and forth.

Is anyone else having an issue with the widget just saying "loading" after the install of this?
I had that issue for a while, but now it shows me the most viewed videos. Someone above said that you need to be connected through 3G for that info to load.

Even so, is anyone finding this widget useful at all? It just scrolls through the same 3 videos, and there's no way to actually access the app through the widget. You can only either view one of those 3 videos or enter the search dialog, both of which are usually useless. Is there a way to actually access the app through the widget?

Oh yeah, if you click the small "youtube" logo in the upper left of the widget it will actually take you to the youtube app.
