Help How to find Device

I recently lost my Oneplus 6t, and when on find my device, it stated the area at which the device was last seen.

However on Find my Device, it now says that the device cannot be reached, does this mean that the phone has been reset? Or that it has just been missing for too long (however I would think that 1 week is hardly long enough).

If it has been reset it gives me a chance to find it asap.

Many thanks.

Yeh, it could have been reset although FRP is supposed to prevent that, or it could just have been turned off, or the SIM was removed and thrown away. Any of those would cause the phone to be unreachable. Don't know if there's any time limits for find-my-device, just in case it comes back online with your stuff.

I previously lost a device and its last seen was visible until i bought a new one.

I'm thinking this could possibly mean my latest ones been reset, or had the sim removed as its planning to be sold, and as such I can go and try to find it in the local phone shops, but just want to make sure before I go trying to find it in the local phone shops.

What would your plan of action be? If you don't mind me asking

Quite frankly if it's been a week without contact, I'd assume it's now lost, never to be seen again. Report the loss of phone and SIM to your carrier, so they can at least be blacklisted and made unusable by anyone else. Report the loss to the police as well I think, just in case. And see about replacement. Was it insured?

I've only lost a phone once, but that was years ago, before Find-my-phone etc. And a friend left his iPhone 8 in a taxi last year, which we managed to track down the next day.

I understand that, but surely the change from 'last seen' to 'can't be reached', indicated that the phone has been handled and tampered with?

It was also insured but it doesn't cover accidental loss, however I'm thinking this could possibly be pushed as theft now (I wasn't all that sober when I lost it/ got it stolen)

Or could just be the amount of time elapsed from when it last pinged its location to the Find-my-phone server. That's just a guess of course. If I was a thief or fence, the first thing I'd do is remove the SIM, to ensure it's offline and can't be tracked, and then see about resetting it.
