ARGGGH! I HAVE A PROBLEM!

I finally got a reply from LG about the problem I had trying to register my G7. Here it is.

"Thank you for your patience in this matter.

Unfortunately: Model LMG710AWMH is for Central America/Caribbean only and does not come with a US Warranty.

Whilst we understand this is frustrating, we are bound by contract to adhere to the terms and conditions of the promotion."

So I'll be talking to B&H about the situation THEY created and inform them I'll be telling this to every social site I frequent.

Am I pissed??? You better believe it!

Did B&H represent that this was a new model? Was there any indication that this was a grey market product? I think that if they sell those, they have to disclose that, and that you were aware there is no warranty. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure that any new product sold in the U.S. must have a minimum 1 year mfg. warranty.

Yeah, I'd hold their feet to the fire on this. B&H is (was?) a very reputable company. I'd hope this was a simple error.

This is what I got back from them yesterday.

my name is Gabriel M:

Thank you for contacting the Customer Service Department at B&H Photo Video and Pro Audio.

Sir, I checked and this phone is actually coming with our own Limited 1-Year B&H Warranty, it's not under LG warranty.

If you have any problems within a year, you can let us know and we'll take care of that.

It's an unlocked phone, brand new, but not under LG U.S. warranty.

Please let us know if you require any further assistance.

Thank you, we appreciate your business.

I'm supposed to get a two year warranty through LG, Their “Second Year Promise” program in the US grants an additional year of warranty if the new phone is registered within 90 days.

From what I've read B&H, Amazon and another company handle LG's unlocked phones. The rest are locket to specific carriers so one would think B&H would handle US phones.

If you buy ANYTHING from B&H call the customer support number and make sure whatever you buy can be registered in the US!

Okay, that makes more sense. I would guess that somewhere in the description there was a disclaimer in tiny little print that said they'd provide the warranty for the grey market devices. The deal with the 2-year warranty is that comes from LG and is contingent on the phone being sold in the market for which it was intended.

I don't know if you're still withing B&H's return period, but I would think that's your only option if you want the 2-year warranty.

I can return the phone until the end of February but I think I'll ride it out and take my chances. I like LG's data transfer program for setting up new phones.
It even copied my other phones blocked phone numbers list.

I just got a new G7ThinQ from B&H Photo and it is a different model and I was able to register it without a problem. Can't figure out why that happened. Like one said abover maybe that is what LG dumped on B&H. But it is something B&H should have made clear in the product listing.

I chose B&H Photo because the one I ordered from Amazon was said to have US Warranty but when I started to transfer stuff from my old phone a bunch of stuff came up in Spanish. And my sim card would not allow me to do more than emergency calls. So I went back into Verizon and they checked the sim card and the phone IMEI and it was not compatible with Verizon. Seems it was a phone for the Carribean-Central Americas. The seller said nothing about that and in fact they answered questions on the product site that is was compatible but that you should check with your carrier. No way to check with carrier as they did not provide the IMEI # in the product site. I did return the phone to Amazon but had to pay to ship it back to the seller. The seller did refund my cost and tax. So watch out for an Amazon seller of phones called BREED. They are not honest.

AFAIK, you can't use foreign imported phones with Verizon. Main reason is, they don't have the United States CDMA modes and bands that Verizon uses on their network. Same thing with Sprint in the US. This has been reported many times on AF.
