Indeed! We passed Proposition 7 in November to do just that. There's still much red tape to cut through before it can go into effect, but it's a first step!

This made me feel very out of the loop. Apparently you can root your Honda, yeah that's right, the car. By rooting you can gain extra features like steering wheel controls amongst other things.
I guess I'm not surprised, since it's android we're talking about here. Pretty damn cool!

I'm completely split on this!
On one hand, wow!, how fun for those of us who are Linux/Android geeks--oh, the things we could do!
On the other hand...see that last bit above. A bricked phone is one thing; a bricked car quite another.

Haha true, though I don't think root would give such deep access to things that would compromise the cars driveability and safety (though I saw something about bypassing the parking brake LMFAO!!!).
