How will Steve Jobs react if he saw foldable smart phones?

So i saw this question that was asked on Quora, so i decided to raise the question here to see what's people opinion about it.

Like what do you think will be Steve Jobs reaction if he saw or sees what smart phones are slowly becoming nowadays, especially from the slight cold tech war that is slowly building up from the parts of Huawei and Samsung. Like if he was alive to see foldable smart phones, what do you think would have been his reaction towards it..

And here is one of the best answers that was posted on Quora.

"My personal guess is, he would be deeply unimpressed. Jobs always strived for perfection. Those are thick devices with large batteries, huge adapters, square screens when unfolded (which make no sense for most applications) and frail plastic protection over the hinge which risk shattering if exposed to low temperatures. The first uses stock Android and the other two sport minor adjustments.

Remember that, when touch screens for mobile devices appeared in 2000, Jobs refused to make a Mac with that technology, arguing that it made no sense to use a finger to interact with a user interface built for the mouse. (Microsoft did try to market a Windows variant for those devices, but people hated them). Jobs had Apple engineers rethink the OS X operating system until it shone for finger input. It took five years. Instead of marketing that, he told those engineers to make it fit in a small form factor and add a cellular circuitry. The iPhone was thus born in 2007.

While we are at it, also remember that Jobs insisted for glass over the iPhone’s screen.

Now, we know that Corning (the makers of Gorilla Glass) are working on a crystal which can be made as thin as a tenth of a millimeter and can be rolled into a cylinder five millimeters in diameter. That’s where he would probably put his time, his money and his men."

I tend to think that foldable phones are a passing fad, which won't get any serious acceptance. You've got to think what a phone is for. It's a fairly small communications device which you can put in your pocket. Foldable phones are more bulky, and I agree about the durability of the device. It would be prone to damage and general wear and tear. Basically it's not very practical. Can I see myself with one of these things in my pocket? No.
It's a use of technology purely for the sake of the technology.
What would Mr Jobs have thought? I don't think he'd be too impressed. Then he'd look at Apple and think, my god, where has all the innovation gone?!

Lol... i don't know why i find this funny.. but seriously bro. you just hit the goddamn ****ing nail on the head..

But on a second thought, i still think this is just a growing technology and it's still trying to emerge.. so you don't expect a lot of people to feel comfortable with it at first.. Do you remember the case with the very first Samsung Galaxy Note device with a 5+ Inch display? how everyone was throwing stones and shades at Samsung for producing such a big phone with an enormous screen..

But what do we have today? Phones are even beginning to cross the 7.0 Inch pass mark and no one is even complaining.. So from what is going on right now, i think history is just beginning to repeat itself..And with time, when these foldable phones gets better, maybe in their next three to fourth generations, people will begin to appreciate them naturally, and the whole world will want to start mass producing them..

#Cheers.

On a side note though I don't think he'd be unhappy at the thickness of the phone as one of the quotes suggested. The original iPhone was 0.46 inches (11.7mm) thick whereas the Galaxy fold is 14mm to 17mm depending which part you measures. So honestly I think that he'd been quite impressed that it's been possible to more than double the 3.5 inch screen size of the original iPhone with only adding an extra 2 to 6 mm to something that fits in your pocket. Then he'd do a true Apple and claim he came up with it first and sue everyone else :p

Give it a few years and the foldable phones will be down to the thickness we've got used to now ;)
