Note 8 Glitch with YouTube .....

*** YouTube Glitch/Bug
1) When I close all apps, YouTube video still plays
2) YouTube sleep music plays all night. Then, when I wake up and want to close YouTube , YouTube app is not open ! It quit by itself, but the YouTube video still plays ...
3) So, I have to open the YouTube app, then I can close the YouTube video that is still playing.
4) Sometimes when I open YouTube, so I can close the YouTube video, YouTube app does not appear !!! So, I have to open again ...
5) I have had this YouTube issue before and after Factory Reset.

We may be of better service if you could possibly explain which exact device model you are having issues with..??

note sure on my model number for my note 8, but i have had no issues with youtube. i did however just upgraded to android pie so we will see how the new update works.

If the YouTube app isn't open, how/where are its videos still playing? :thinking:

What happens if you tap or long-press on a disembodied video as it's playing? Does that bring YT back?

Oh wow, OK! IMHO.. I think you need to factory reset the device, it'll be your best bet in clearing up any bugs as it removes all the leftover old files from the previous OS that could cause any conflict.. It's always HIGHLY recommended to factory reset after a major OS update/upgrade

Sorry but the OP was the one with the issue. My upgrade to pie had not been an issue with YouTube. I agree only if you're having issues should you do a factory reset. However,. I think the OP had said that a factory reset was already performed.

No, that does not bring back the YouTube app. I must go to the App Drawer, and reopen YouTube, in order to quit YouTube. Very strange indeed …. that YouTube videos still play, even though the YouTube app is NOT open … !!! This also happens sometimes with the Music app. This glitch does not happen everyday though.

out of curiosity do you have YouTube permission to do picture in picture. like when you "close all apps" the picture will minimize but still show on top of existing apps or launcher? when i did this and "closed all apps" youtube closed as well.

and just curious as to what android update you are on?

A misunderstanding.. I simply wasn't sure if this was an International (Exynos) model or Qualcomm (USA) as sometimes things can differ between chipsets.

I think you're on to something here. As soon as I read your post, I recalled setting my new phone to play picture-in-picture, and how that looked like a disembodied video. I didn't like it! Quickly got rid of it.

Yes, I have Picture in Picture, which is an awesome feature. I can access other apps, and YouTube is still running at the lower right corner.

I am running Oreo on my Note 8, most recent update.

I did not try disabling. Will give that a shot next time .....
