Launcher issues

Try going to menu>apps>google now launcher and tap on the 'defaults' setting and clear defaults. The next time you start your phone it should prompt you for which launcher you want to use as default.

Thanks for the reply
I've gone into settings > apps but not the Google now launcher (there is Pixel launcher but that says it's disabled)

Oh, right they changed that. But, if it's disabled, i'm not sure which launcher is coming back on you. Do you have any other launchers installed?

No all I have is Microsoft new launcher and the pixel one (which is the one that pops up). The Microsoft launcher had an update last night - maybe you have to re-authorise it as the default launcher because of this

I going to pile on here. I have the Microsoft Launcher and really like it, have had it for about a month. No launching issues. Any way to find out about all of the features and what is coming next? For example, I have the Pixel 3 and would love to see the MS Launcher support the squeeze feature to launch Cortana.

I don't think that Google will ever provide the ability to natively use another app with the Active Edge feature. In fact, as I understand it that hardware feature is implemented entirely by Google Assistant; disable Assistant and nothing will respond no matter how hard you squeeze the phone.

That said, a third-party app like Button Mapper will get it done by using some undocumented hackery. It probably won't provide quite the same experience but could probably do what you need in a pinch.
