Help call blocker

I'm looking for a call blocker that will really work. I've had several over the last couple of years and not been satisfied.

I have a Samsung Galaxy 6. If I block a number in the native phone app, it still rings and rings when that party calls. After 5 rings the call will terminate, but the five rings are annoying. And if I don't recognize the number I am liable to answer the call. So what good is the blocker?!

I have a third party app called Call Blocker that essentially does the same thing but it will sometimes identify the caller. That's a plus but not a big one.

I used to have an app called Whoscall, which, IIRC, blocked the call immediately but it was so full of ads I couldn't stand it...in fact my Verizon rep compared it to a virus.

Is there a third party app that will keep a blocked number from ringing through and perhaps prevent that blocked party from leaving a voicemail as well? Not dead set on that last bit but there's got to something out there that will handle this problem competently...better than what I've tried so far.

Thoughts?

Advice appreciated..

Youmail has a built in call blocker and it is very good. I was surprised.

I've tried many call blockers, (True Caller, Calls Blacklist, Hiya, Call Blocker (Vlad Lee), Mr.Number, Built in blocker in dialer)

None have compared to YouMail. I have had zero calls get through to me that were spam. It is the most powerful call blocker I've ever used.
IT plays a recording that says the number has been disconnected to the spam numbers.

I second YouMail, as it blocks AND will not leave voice mail from spammers.
4 levels of blocking and its free version is just as good.

I think I took your advice, Dannydet, because I never knew it had a call block feature. I had used it for voicemail in the past.
I love the "This number has been disconnected" playback to spammers/telemarketing. That really kills it for them and I love it.

Again, I have had ZERO spam/telemarketing calls get through.

Thanks tot he advice here, I have been looking at Youmail.

I like the idea that blocked calls will not get through even with one or two rings (although I'd be happy with one ring getting through). But I have two concerns--first and probably of no real significance, I think You mail may be more than I need.

And second, somewhere in the description, I got the idea that blocked calls are intercepted and handled in the 'cloud' (through the Youmail website, IOW). Is that true?

The visual voicemail is cloud based. I don't see anything about the call blocking being cloud based but I haven't asked. You can contact Youmail directly and ask them.
