Android 9.0 Having Problems

I recently got the Android 9 update on my Moto g6. The update did not go smoothly and I had to turn my phone off and on during the process (the one thing that should never be done, but had to be done). Ever since the update, I lost most of my files, which was to be expected, but there are also two unforseen side effects:
  1. My data won't turn on. Whenever I go into the settings to try and enable it, it does not have a connection and then automatically turns itself off.
  2. The bottom bar does not work as intended. The Home button does not take me home, and the gestures that were meant to come with this update do not work for me.
I have tried to remedy both of these problems with suggestions I found on the internet already, such as going into Settings > System > Gestures (where the option to enable the gestures is not there), and by turning my data off and on, restarting my phone, taking the SIM card out and back in, the whole shebang. Nothing has helped.
I fear that the turning-off of my phone has perhaps corrupted the update somehow. When I put it back on, it was at Android 8, and I had to retry the update (successful this time). I think that only having these problems is weird and I doubt it has corrupted the update somehow. If anybody can help me with either of these problems, or has a suggestion, please let me know; it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the help. :)

May I ask where your phone's from? I have a retus, North American unlocked G6 and still haven't received the 9/Pie update.

I'm in Scotland, not in America. From what I understand & have seen from researching this issue, Motorola are rolling out the Android Pie update for the g6's across America either soon / now. Hope that helps. :)

Please I will advise you to downgrade back to Android 8 and later wait for the second update for Android 9

Also own a G6 play for backup, and that one is also retus, and no Pie update.
If you are tired of waiting for the 9.0 update OTA, link is available for full firmware file at XDA and you can manual fastboot flash or use RSD Lite.
Just updated mine using RSD Lite.
