Hey so I'm interested to know what are some of your favorite youtube channels. right now i am extremely addicted to Sailing La Vagabonde. It is about a young Australian couple. the boy early on bought a sail boat (La Vagabonde) and sailed to the Greek Island and ended up meets a beautiful girl Australian there. He ended up asking her top sail with him......and 4 or 5 years later they are sailing around the world together.

for the past week or so i have been binge watching and have been living vicariously through them. it has always been my dream to float around the world like they are doing. i am very glad that i can live it out thru them. i would highly recommend that you check them out.
this is their first video :

so right now this is my favorite.......what is yours?

DirecTV used to have YouTube. It was awesome because I could watch YT videos the way I like--on a nice, big TV screen, controlled with one remote. I'd lie in bed watching hours of ballet videos--classes, how to sew ribbons on pointe shoes, rehearsals, anything that reminded me of my previous life.

Then they had a falling out. No more YouTube on DirecTV. :(

Now? I rarely watch anything on YT, so I can't even tell you any channel names.

@mikedt did the government run them out ?

Well the two dudes on the bikes in the video, I don't think they've been back in mainland China for over a year now. They've posted videos from Hong Kong and Taiwan, but never mainland in the last year. They're both married to Chinese wives, and the American had a boy in China.

I can only surmise they've both been denied entry now. In the video, one of them said he needed to go to Hong Kong, but was scared about the possibility of been refused back in.

They're professional vloggers, and I believe they get all their income from YouTube ads and Patreon subs. But as far as PRC govt is concerned they're journalists, and just can't do that here without the correct visas, permits, and approvals.

No smart TV? Also, a 30/40 chromecast or firestick would work perfectly. I definitely do not like watching youtube on my phone for sure.

I have SOOO many favorite youtube channels. Of course, the ones above in mine and Luna post are my channel (please feel free to check it out, subscribe, comment, upvote/downvote, lol)

But there is SOOOO much I love that has influenced me.

Car content: TheStradman & Doug Demuro

Tech: Linustechtips, MKBDH, Sara Dietchy, and I have a softspot for iJustine

    Travel: Roamaroo, Vagabrothers, TangerineTravels, etc

Photography focused vlogs: Peter McKinnon; David Manning (up and comer)

My all time favorite for SOO many reasons: Casey Neistat

I'll link to my favorite vids from them if anyone is interested!

Linus and Marques are OK, but it's kinda the same thing over and over and OVER again. I can't get into iJustine ... she's just too ... blonde.

Marques I like if I specifically want to want whatever product he reviewed/etc, can't just watch like all his stuff. It's a bit different with Linus, dude is a trip, and I enjoy tons more of his content. He does some whack stuff, and his other channels, techquickie and... whatever the other one is, have some super infomative stuff I still find useful.
Justine, well I know her from being on GameHead, then GameTrailers TV on spike, then realized she was on youtube. And it helps because I met her ;)

Yes, they're all smart TVs, and they're all connected to DirecTV.

Keeping in mind that I was very sick, and am still clawing my way back to health, I've done nothing to try to figure out anything EXTRA--like watching YT on smart TVs that are already, and will remain, hooked up to DirecTV boxes.
Also, a 30/40 chromecast or firestick would work perfectly.
    Wouldn't know where to begin...

Fair enough, but being they are smart TV's they have all that functionality outside of the direct tv stuff. Should be a smart hub/apps button on tv remote. What TV is it?

Without getting up to look at the others, all I can say for sure is one is LG. I think one is Philips, and the other...I don't know.

I also don't know where any of their remotes are. With each one, once I set up DirecTV's remote to control them, their remotes disappeared. Oh, they're somewhere in this house (or garage), but I don't know where. I know there are buttons on the TVs that one could presumably use to access its functions, but that's about it.

HAHA, I feel ya! The LG's have a nice interface, they run WebOs. But if the TV is connected to wifi, and your phone is connected to wifi, you can usually cast videos to TV.

The TVs are indirectly connected to my Wi-Fi network, as each is connected to a DirecTV box, which in turn is connected to Wi-Fi.

Unfortunately, though, I don't see any way through DirecTV to utilize that connection for something like YouTube. There used to be an 'Extras' menu, and that's where YT lived. That's been replaced by an 'Apps' menu, with access to Pandora and some other stuff I'm not interested in.

If I REALLY want to watch a video, I'll do it on my biggest laptop; its 17.3" screen makes it bearable.

My TV isn't online at all and neither is it "smart". But when I want to watch YouTube on a big screen, sat on my sofa, I either use my phone or Macbook, and plug then in the HDMI.
