Hello. This is my first post here, so please excuse me for being unclear or whatever.
I am building a DIY webcam in Finland. This webcam will take pictures Over the whole year And I will access them here in New York. as there will be no power source, I will generate my power using wind. To not waste battery, I only want my phone to be on once a day, at 12 PM. Are there any apps that can automatically shut down and turn on my phone for only A short time a day, Where my IP webcam app can be activated.
Thanks

Jeez, I think some of the early (I'm talking real early, circa 2010) HTC's had an alarm when powered off, but even they wouldn't allow scheduled on / off. I can't think of anything that would do that. Some modern devices have a battery saver mode that basically turns the phone into a dumb / feature phone thus increasing battery life from 1 day to a few days. This may work, but I think even this arrived in phones later than the S4.

If you can manage a sleep mode (power saver) and awake mode, tasker could probably automate switching. I don't think you will find something to turn the phone off and on (besides some robotic mechanism to physically press the power button).

I agree. An instruction to reboot (which is how I read the subject) would be possible, but no app can make the phone shut down for 23.9 hours then turn on, take a picture and shut down again - because once it shuts down it's not running android, and hence not running the app, and hence there's no process that can turn it on again.

Maybe some power saving, like going into airplane mode, could be scheduled. I'm not sure what would require root these days (will depend on android version).

There is a setting page for the automatic power on/off.

Yeah, there is no native setting to schedule power on and off. I'll look into these automation apps...
But I've got another question to the topic: Can a Samsung S4 stay 'alive' if no apps are running from full charge for how long? How long does it take for a Samsung S4 to 'die' from 100%-0% battery life? What are the best tips to critically increase this time 'alive'?
Thanks!
PS: I got Android 5.0.1

Thep phones listed aboveh native power on/off feature. It's hardware backed so as long as the battery didn't die completely the phone will wake up at preset time. So it's ok if you can top up the phone from time to time with wind-powered charger.
