Hi folks, my wife has an s7 and buys an electronic bus ticket. Each trip she activates a ticket, a bar code appears on screen and this is scanned on bus. Recently the code is unable to be scanned. She has tried on several buses and has removed the screen saver she had on the phone but still not working. The screen is in perfect condition. No scratches or chips. She has uninstalled and reinstalled app etc. Anyone any idea why this should suddenly stop being scannable. Cheers.

I had a similar problem... A local bus company ran a pilot, using a similar system.. my ticket would scan 1 time out of 10... the drivers were cool.. and so let me ride anyway..

after 2 months into the 6 month pilot... they scrapped it and refunded everyone who had bought a ticket.

It turns out that readability problems were to big for them to solve.

We've been using a WeChat based public transport ticket system for almost two years now. It puts a QR on the screen and the machine on bus scans it with a camera. It puts the phone display to maximum brightness. And from what I've seen it seems to be quite reliable, even with phones that have big cracks in their glass.

I've also used the system on the Beijing and Shanghai subways, that use their own apps, and use QRs on the screen, or NFC.

Interesting. Then what technology do the airlines use, who seem to have no problem scanning codes on all types of devices?
Interesting thought. I have a grocery app with a barcode I scan. If I use the scanner built into the counter (like all grocery stores or Walmart's) it won't scan, but if I scan it with the handheld scanner it is immediate. I suppose there are different types of scanners or a difference in how they read it. Makes me wonder now that I've changed phone if my screen tech has any influence.
