whole lot of shaking going on!!!!!

Dr Jones said yesterday if a bigger one hit, yesterday's 6.4 would be renamed as a foreshock. There we are!

We definitely felt this one in Arcadia. It kept going...but there wasn't much up-and-down.

My cousin (over in 'the Valley') called--they felt it more than we did, which doesn't make sense.

i love these scientists. they are Dr. Jones, i forget how amazing she is. i could listen to these guys speak all day.
I was going to post something similar. They really are amazing with their wealth of knowledge.

But I particularly admire Dr Jones. She's a brilliant scientist, and a woman who's middle-aged and never into makeup and girly things. I was never into makeup, I haven't worn a dress/skirt in decades, and I measured my worth by what's in my brain, not how much make-up I had on. And she's not the ubiquitous size 0 LA woman! (Nor am I.)

Seeing all the coverage from Caltech, a lot filmed outside, brings back lots of childhood memories. I grew up in Pasadena, just blocks from Caltech. We'd ride our bikes and skateboards over there and dream about someday being old enough for college.

We sold our house to Caltech. They used it first for student housing, along with others they'd previously purchased. Then they razed EVERYTHING to put up student apartments, including our turn-of-the-century Craftsman house. The Victorian next door was bought and moved to Altadena, a few miles away. It's known as Yale House. I'm so glad it was preserved.

I was sitting in the terminal Thursday watching TV when I felt a little vibration. At first I dimissed it as a one of the trucks going by. But then I realized that trucks aren't allowed in the area where I at. So I thought it was just a little Aftershock from early Earth quake .
Then the floor under me started to roll
Friday morning I was asleep in the truck around 2am when I was awoken to the truck rocking back and forth
And again at 5am
Then there was the 7.1 last night I was sitting in the truck talking with a driver next to me, when I felt my truck swaying side to side, I glance over at the truck next to me and saw it going up and down.

We had the 7.0 Yesterday and then the 6 something the day before. Knew it was bound to happen
Yes, it was bound to happen. We've been in an earthquake drought for years now. Someone on TV said 'there's a whole generation of Californians who've never felt an earthquake.'

We were long overdue.

What's really sad is seeing people whose houses, and most everything in them, have been destroyed--and they don't have earthquake insurance. :(

One older couple I saw interviewed always thought earthquake insurance was too expensive. Now, with their home in ruins, they wish they had gotten it.

My whole family has earthquake insurance. A few years ago, my cousin spent a ton of money retrofitting her house. I told her I had no intention of doing the same--that's what we have earthquake insurance for! :D

I agree, and not a scientist around can predict when or how big they will be. Victorville rolled bad enough taking down powerlines etc. Would not want to be in ridgecrest

just looking at the usgs and just today alone there was 191 tremblers!!!!!!
It's crazy! There have been thousands of tremors since Thursday's 6.4 temblor...and then the 7.1 on Friday...it's just been almost constant.
most are below 3, but i'm sure most of those you cans feel it. if i lived in that region, my nerves would be so raw right now.
Mine too. A little rockin' and rollin' occasionally is one thing, but what they're going through is mind-boggling.
