So I'm looking for tips here. We live in a hard water area and our kitchen has been a nightmare to keep clean because of it.

See attached pic. Because we have a dark coloured worktop we can never use harsh chemicals or bleaching products to remove the scale marks.

We have tried a lot of products, even soaking the area in white vinegar over night. Which kind of works, seems to remove 60% of it however after cleaning it up and drying most of the marks return.

So have anyone got some ideas on how to remove these pesky marks?

That's a tough one. I'd suggest Lime Away but I have no idea how it might effect your counter tops. I hope someone with some experience has a recommendation.
Thanks @olbriar had a look and states to not use on counter tops. o_O I've got this fantastic stuff I use on the bathroom but by hell its harsh!! Proper rubber gloves and well ventilated room stuff, na good for worktops. :p

I had another thought that seems like it might be safe to use on your counter tops. CLR Bath and Kitchen.

Snipped from a product description: This multi-purpose and multi-surface cleaner has a powerful foam spray formulated to quickly cut through dirt, calcium, lime, hard water deposits and soap scum. CLR Bath & Kitchen Cleaner is safe to use on most kitchen and bath surfaces including ceramic tile, shower doors, sinks, bathtubs, white grout and caulk, toilet bowls, fiberglass and kitchen counter tops.

I've used it on porcelain only but it worked well. If I were trying it on your counter top, I would find the least visible stain and do a test clean prior to having it all over the place. Ruining counter tops would be a real bummer. Perhaps more R&D on the product prior to purchase would be wise.

Thanks @olbriar seems like that product is US only tho, no where to purchase in the UK. Found HG Scale Away on Amazon tho, it states that it can be used on counter tops. Although I would be a tad worried about that as it states it's very strong and the product I use in our bathrooms is a HG product dont dont fancy killing the worktop.

So gave the Koh Universl Cleaner a go.. did a pretty good job after 3 applications the water stains are gone. I do have a very bad spot behind the taps that needs some more work, but generally it was good.

It's not very good with stainless steel tho, takes a lot of work and leaves the surface misty. I'll stick with my stainless cleaner for those areas as it does the job in 30s to a minute.
