Hi all,
I got some of these links previously from the xda-developers forum. This one seems to have more recent posts so I wasn't sure to ask my question here or there. I've recently picked up a J327P and have it rooted. I tried installing the APL1 and it installed but then hung on the second boot (I waited like 30 min). I wasn't sure if I installed the correct package? I used TWRP.

When I went back to TWRP and tried to install again (just to see what happened), it could not mount the DATA partition.

So, I need assistance. I will happily donate to the cause.

Here are my phone's details:
Hardware J327P03
Software J327PVPS3ARC1
Build MMB29M J327PVPS3ARC1

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks!
Brian

Hi Brian, the reason your phone looped is because you attempted to downgrade from arc1 to apl1. I'm currently working on an arc build. however if you want to use the apl1 versions you need to use odin to flash the apl1 firmware, then enable oem unlocking in developer settings and possibly adb. Reflash twrp
and root as normal but After you flash to get data partition working simply type yes in twrp wipe settings and reboot recovery and then reboot your phone. Taking out the battery after you flash and format data can help. Unfortunately the boot process can take some time to complete. Pm me for details on how to donate should you choose to. Your support is definitely appreciated!

Brian, I received your donation, thank you! What carrier are you currently using? instead of trying to downgrade I am working on an ARC1 build to help you and others.I will likely post it this weekend. Are you currently bricked???
Thanks so much for the info! Guessing there's really not much I'd be missing if I go back to APl1 - especially since there's souch more in your build? Unless there's a good reason to wait , I'm inclined to follow your instructions and do that.

Assuming there's a PayPal address for which I can donate? I will pm you. Thanks again!

Hi!
No, not bricked. It still boots to ARC1. I'm on sprint network (Columbus Ohio area). I am not sure, though, if the image is a little messed up because I tried to install the APL1 zip through twrp and it didn't work. After I'd done that I couldn't mount the data partition. However, I was able to do a restore from a previous point backup from twrp. So, that's where it stands at the moment. I'm sure I should wipe everything before loading a new rom - so that's not an issue.

If you are nearly ready with ARC1 then I'm happy to wait - not in a terrible hurry. I can be a tester for you. So, let me know what you think.

Hi Brian, consider yourself as a tester. Because I have disabled force encryption and dm-verity it will always be a good practice to 1st: Make sure you have a good backup, and you do... Then wipe data by typing yes in twrp wipe options, reboot recovery and this will remount data so it can be used, flash the arc rom and when it finishes flashing, do the same wipe again and reboot recovery. I take the battery out for 30 seconds or so put it back in and it reboots 50% faster because of the data encryption being disabled. Are there any apps you will need day to day ?

I appreciate you! please pm me for a new way to donate. Arc1 test soak will be finished by weekends end. I really appreciate your patience and I'll do the best I can. For now make sure you both flash the Arc1 odin firmware enable oem unlocking in dev options, usb debugging (for obvious reasons, and unknown sources for supersu and busy box) don't worry about the rest of the roms but to be clear you are both on sprint? Do you know how to logcat it may help us in this process?

I do not know how to logcat either but can look it up.

You had asked which apps I regularly use. I have several. I'm not sure I'd want you to customize anything for me in terms of apps - I'm sure we want to keep things at the minimum.

I do use apps like Chomp for SMS and Google browser instead of the defaults. I also have been using a custom launcher because Touchwiz frustrates me in that you can't get a smaller grid on the main screen (and some other annoyances too).

I have actually not started using my J327P yet. I just recently picked it up. I'm currently running on a J320P. So, this is an upgrade for me. When I've upgraded before, I've used Titanium for my apps and settings, so that's probably my easiest path for that stuff. Once I get the new OS running on the J327P, I will go ahead and switch to that phone.

Thanks again!
