Android Studio 3.4.2

Just starting to look at App Development. Downloaded Android Studio 3.4.2 and try to simply import some of the Android code samples to see what is what, but none of them ever seem to load without errors.

Can ever seem to run any examples, they always fail for various reasons.

Has anyone tried to import the samples?

This may sound a bit odd, and it may be a red herring in your case, but when I first installed Studio 3.4.0 and started to use it, I found one or two modules had not been installed. When I started the app by pressing the green triangle icon rather than Tools > AVD Manager as directed by the tutorial, it prompted me to install the missing bits and bobs...
