nope. all samsung devices with the snapdragon processors have locked bootloaders. if you want to root a phone do not get a samsung device in the US which they all have the snapdragon processors......sorry.
if you do end up paying, trying to root your device, you will be just throwing money away.
it does seem to have stalled a bit. it is a bit technical. i have read about half of the pages in that thread. i do not think it will happen though. it is still worth the read.
