No more call recording (Android Pie)

Call recording is illegal in the UK without prior concent, thus has been disabled. Is it illegal where you are? Consider sources from. S legal country.

That seems to be technically incorrect. I think it is based on the carrier. I have an unlocked Note8 from Samsung. I live in Texas (US) where the person receiving and making call can legally record his call without informing the other party. But yet the Note8 I received has this option disabled.

This “rule” varies by state, country, so it’s technically correct depending on where you live.

In the UK companies reserve the right to hang up if the call is being recorded without concent, I use it all the time with cold callers, they usually hang up once told I'm recording. 😂😂😂😂

Looks like the update to version 5.36 on Automatic Call Recorder messed with the configuration settings... I was suddenly only recording MY side of the conversations! I set Recording to Configuration 6 and all is well. In fact, I love the app so much that I used my Google Play credits to get the Pro version!

I need a call recorder app that will record both sides of a call on Galaxy Note 8. I have tried 9 apps and none of them will record both sides of a conversation. Three of them will not even open on a Note 8.

Please list any apps that have worked for you recording both sides of the conversation on Note 8 and the settings.
I am using also Automatic Call Recorder of Appliqato, the only one that record both sides on my Note 8.

Goole have seen fit to remove the call record api. From Pie meaning that I can't record my calls anymore, which I felt was a necessity for business purposes. I'm holding off installing Pie and I'm being reminded once every couple of days about the 'upgrade', but will I be forced at some point to upgrade or get bricked? I've heard some horror stories in the past.

Well I've got a Huawei that was updated to Pie last month, and it can still record all phone calls just fine. So it may not be Google's doing and is entirely Samsung, the Note8 manufacturer. Do you live in a country where recording phone calls might be legally restricted, because of some telecommunications privacy laws? Which phone manufacturers must comply with.

I live in the UK, contrary to popular belief it is legal to record calls as long as both parties agree. I read Google were pulling the option.

Google removed the API with Pie for third-party user installed call recorder apps?

FWIW I've also got a UK version Samsung Galaxy S7 here, originally bought from Vodafone, and that does NOT have a call recording as standard, even though it's currently been used with China Unicom here in the PRC. All China version Samsungs can record phone calls as standard, including S9 and S10 with Pie. Same with other manufacturers as well.

I'm reading that the removed api is a call log permission issue not a recording issue, also, for the ACR app I use there is an 'unchained' version available in the Huawei store you might like to check out.

I've just found Call Recorder - ACR in the Huawei App Gallery, along with a note... "*INCOMPATIBLE WITH ANDROID 9". So yeh that's definitely Google's doing. :(

I can't express how disappointed I am with Pie, not only can I not record calls anymore, it is not illegal in the UK, (my bank does it all the time), but I also have a small clock in the status bar I can't get rid of! What other piss poor practices are Samsung copying from the cupertinos? If I wanted shit I'd have bought Apple!

Agreed... I noticed that as well. I also posted something about the messaging app not showing the name of the person(s) your texting in the main conversation window. It only shows their photo or avatar.
