Chrome starting accidentally

I've installed and used AD Blocker Browser as a default on my phone. However, Chrome is the system's own app, and it's still opening sometimes accidentally while I am using the phone/other apps. Does someone know how can I switch off that option? Sometimes opens the screen saying "Say something" - but I wasn't going to do that, and it's annoying. Sometimes the Chrome browser is starting (even I didn't click the icon of it)...

It sounds like you are triggering Google Assistant, and yes, that activate Chrome.

If you do not wish this to occur, and you do not like Chrome or need Google Assistant, then there are some things that you can do.

First, enter Settings.
Then Apps, and All Apps.

Find Chrome, and disable it. This will erase all updates and your data on Chrome, so be sure you don't use it.

Now go back and find the Settings pinwheel for Apps.
Here you should find an option for the app you want as an Assistant App.

Even if you choose None, then Google is not going to be turning on all the time.

argh! yesterday the Chrome started again while I was touching the screen "in a wrong way". in Apps folder it clearly says: CHROME - not in use.

Did you disable the Chrome app itself after you changed the Assistant App?

Also, remember that other apos can trigger the restart of apps.
Google is notorious for this. Are you using any other Google apps? Disabling Chrome should make it unavailable, and a notification may pop up saying so. This would be your clue as to the app that keeps restarting it. If it is disabled it will not restart.

I have to reset my Assistant App many times, as somehow my devices 'forget' that I don't want Google crap running on them. It is very frustrating.

I have to use a firewall to turn off internet access to Google Play, because if I don't then when I wake up many apps will be updated- apps that I do not want updated at all!

This is regardless to the Do Not Auto-Update Apps setting, which is always off.

What is your default browser?
It is possible that Chrome is chosen, and so will restart when you open a link from another app.

Default Browser

If this is set to your own browser already, then you have another issue.

Different browsers integrate differently, some more than others.

My favorite browser, Lightning, is great- but it will not search for song lyrics when asked to by my music app (Black Player).

But an option to use the stock browser (yuck) or Chrome (double yuck) pops up instead.

So I had to find another browser that would also show up on this option when it pops up.

Lucky for me, I did.

FOSS Browser (F-Droid).

I made FOSS my default browser, and now all apps that have links open them with FOSS.

It is very small, and efficient.

When I am doing my own thing on the web, I use Lightning.
And now FOSS is handling all my links from other apps.

It seems like a pain, but after getting it set up and tweaking the settings it actually works quite well.
