Im using Samsung galaxy tab 3 lite w/android version 4.2.2. Tablet is very sentimental 2me, last thing mother gave me be4 she passed. (Been using this tablet 6yrs now) unfortunately in my settings says there is no new update & I need android version 5.0 to be able 2 continue playing certain games. Is there easy step by step for dummies on how to upgrade to version 5.0? Any help be greatly appreciated, thank you & have wonderful day.

It might be time to put this tablet into semi-retirement at this point. There is no step-by-step guide to upgrade the installed Android operating system on this particular model because there are no stock firmware versions newer than 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) available. A lot of devices are in this same situation -- unless the manufacturers opt to continue supporting them they just don't get any further development support.

The Android platform isn't a matter where there is a 'master' image of each version that a typical consumer can just download to install/upgrade. A lot of people assume this, erroneously thinking Android just works the same as with a Windows PC or a Mac but it's actually a more involved process and fully dependent on each and every different model. In your case, Samsung opted to not continue supporting your Tab 3 Lite so it's essentially 'frozen in time' as is now.

The matter where you're having issues interacting with online services using such dated software is only going to increase as time goes on so give some thought on upgrading to a newer device. And you can always just keep this tablet around as a tribute to Mom and use it for things that don't tie into online access.

I have my OG Droid that has a special place for me, though not for as good a reason as you. I still use it as an alarm clock, so as suggested above, maybe repurpose the tablet for something within it's capabilities so it can live on while you get a device to handle your more current day to day needs. A tablet would be great to mix with Google Photos to show slideshows.
