Help Samsung galaxy tab A 10.5'' 2018 major bug

Hey so I recently got a software update on my samsung galaxy tab A 10.5'' 2018 (the version without the SIM card slot) and I noticed that in Device Maintenance > Battery > Advanced Settings there is an option called "Protect Battery" and it says it stops charging the device when it reaches 85% to extend the battery life, but for some reason when I enable this option it keeps charging past 85%. I tried restarting, disabling the feature and enabling it again, letting the tablet charge completely, restarting the tablet while the charger is connected but nothing worked, it keeps charging even after it reaches 85%. Also, when I made this post the samsung galaxy tab A 10.5 was not available in the drop-down menu which is also kind of weird (perhaps it's a less known tablet?)
I appreciate any help with this.

Well I just factory reset the tablet and it still charges past 85% with the option enabled so I'm pretty sure this means it's a hardware problem. Should I take it into service? It's still under warranty so it should be free.
well that is up to you. charging it past 85% is ok. all of my other devices i charge them to 100%. my note 8 is a beast from day one and i have not seen any issue with my battery.

now the fact that it is not doing what it says it is supposed to be doing is an issue regardless. but is it something you can live with? is it worth using up your warranty for it? ........that is your choice to make.

So, not sure if this was a fix since this post or not and forgive me if it has and you are already aware.

The battery protect feature converts your 'actual device's 85%" to be the new 100%. So it appears as thought it is going beyond 85% when it is actually stopping at the aforementioned percentage.

Again if this was a fix, ignore this message and if you are also changing it back to non-battery protect and have noticed it is beyond the 85% upon switching then, again ignore me.
