Date you ordered and received the phone vs. "will ship by" date

i ordered my incredible in store on 5/18 and at this point it seems like it will be sometime time around christmas that i recive an email saying its on its way and hopefully get the phone just befor the new year (ok so its not really that bad i just want the damn phone in my hand) with all of that said this will be my first ever "smart" phone i curently have an enx2 (insert laughter here) and it has been all i needed but i decided that since my NE2 was eligable for upgrade i wanted the latest and greatest so i went with the INCREDIBLE. im now starting to wonder if it will be worth the wait or if i should go to the store and get the next choice down and be satisfied that i have the not so latest and not so greatest thing? all coments are welcome and any info on when a 5/18 is even possible to get processed will be helpful. thank you in advance for your input.

Well I ordered online from VZW on 5/14 and my shipping date so far is between 6/1 and 6/4 so yours will be after that for sure. Just a heads up, but I do belive you should be patient, the Inc, is amzaing and by far the best phone out there at this time, tbh I think its better then the EVO, too big IMHO, and it's on the Sprint network... nuff said lol,

I can't tell you how many times I've seen forum posts just like these over the past ten years, for a variety of things -- new hardware, video game releases and patches, MMO updates... all demanding the same thing, full transparency from the parent company. Customers strongly dislike being left in the dark. And people say exactly what you say -- that it shouldn't be this way.

I'm not sure why people think this makes sense. I understand and sympathize with their frustration, but consider the infrastructure a company would need to keep every customer aware of their own personal circumstance concerning their service or product. It's unfeasible, just from a cost and manpower perspective. Furthermore, what if any company's initial estimates are incorrect? The blowback from a missed date would result in horrendous customer perception and be a PR mess. The only thing a company can do in such a situation is give a vague date that can't go wrong and work as quickly as possible to feed their frothing customers.

I ordered my HTC Incredible this past Thursday, on May 20th. The picture on the VZW website said it was guaranteed to ship by June 11th. I take this to mean "in the worst case scenario." Verizon, like any company, is going to provide a date that both gives them sufficient elbow room for them to be sure, but not so distant as to completely dissuade the customer. Maybe it'll come sooner. The posts in the past few pages of this thread lead me to believe I'll have to wait at least two weeks. But maybe a giant order of Dincs will come into VZW's hands tomorrow, and I'll be lucky to ride the wave so soon after ordering. But maybe not. It sucks being in the dark, but there's little to be done. Patience, be my harbor.

Edit: Oh, and for perspective, the phone I've been using for the past 2 and a half years and will be using while I wait for my Dinc is a Samsung Gleam. That's right, I'm still using a "feature" flip phone! Ahhhhh....

Really? Because I ordered mine on May 18th and when I received my daily Order Status Canceled message, I gave them a call. Imagine my surprise when I was told that my ship date was the 14th. THAT is was people are talking about. It isn't about wanting a company to be totally forthcoming and transparent, it's about have CSR's that know their heads from a hole in the wall. They just seem to spit out whatever date they feel like saying at the moment. I would prefer they just said, I don't know. I would be upset, however I could respect the honest answer.

Honestly you are quite correct. I will spare you story of my 5 plus hours on the phone trying to undo Verizon's mess. I completely understand unforseen complications but I received more misinformation, out right lies, and conficting statements than I could even fathom. It was quite amazing. I'm still not sure exactly when I will get the phone. There seem to be a lot of folks talking about misinformation etc. Hope Verizon is listening.

I ordered mine on 5/18 as well. I keep getting a stupid Order Canceled email, and when I call they have a different date everytime. First it was by June 4th, then the 9th, then the 11th and now the 14th. I fully believe that you should wait it out, the phone promises to be amazing!

It seems like those who ordered on the east coast are getting their notifications. Us on the west coast so far have not. At the end of the day, I knew my phones due to ship by date is 05/28/10 and it hasnt changed and neither has you alls. The dates are posted on the website and havent changed. Some csr's may be giving incorrect info but the date the website told you originally is the day you need to focus on. If it comes eariler then great, but calling reps hoping you get a different answer will only confuse you even more. Youll run into reps who make things up, or who dont know where to find the info, etc. Just chill,...lol

Your ship by date is 06/08/10

It should be, yes. However when I called today (see previous canceled order post) I raised a fit because the person said the 11th of June, so they had a supervisor contact me back. When I received that call he said it was back ordered until the 14th of June. I asked him how come I was told so many different dates and all he could say was 'Sorry ma'am'. I knew the 4th of June wasn't correct as I didn't order it soon enough, but thought that the 9th was more spot on. Then the 11th and now the 14th? EPIC FAIL

Honestly, as long as the wait may seem, in the end, it will be worth it. At worst, some people are being told it will ship within 3 weeks, and most 2 weeks. I think a 3 week wait isnt too long, to get 2x the processor, 8GB more storage, etc (compared to the Droid), seeing as you will use the phone for much longer than 3 weeks. :D

You are so right, especially if you are coming from a Eris

I called the store today, because it's the only way I can know whether it's shipped (I want to be able to ask FedEx to deliver when I'm home from work, so I'd like to know when to expect it). I was told that my order, placed 5/13 from the LA metro area, hasn't shipped, but that there is a phone at the warehouse that has been put aside for me. The CSR told me "Since it's at the warehouse, I'd expect it to ship sometime this week. Give us a call back if it hasn't shipped by Friday." I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but it sounds like progress.
