[SOLVED] Videos play, but there's no sound

maybe wiping cache?
Nope. Tried that already. :)

You know, thinking back, I really can't remember if videos ever played correctly on this Z², using Chrome. I kind of don't think so...
Thanks, but something about it just doesn't sit right with me...perhaps its really bad reviews.

Besides, this is not a volume problem/issue. It's distinctly and definitely a Chrome issue.

have you already tried using Clear data?
No, I haven't--because I don't want to lose everything! I know I can back it all up and everything...but that falls into the category of too much work. :D
Or something else to try is reboot into Safe Mode and see if that makes any difference.
That's something I hadn't thought about. Thanks. I may give it a whirl.

The issue isn't a huge deal, because I really don't have much occasion to watch videos contained in articles. But when I do, it would be nice to hear them! :)

It's only been recently, and it is a chromebook, so I don't think I can use other browsers.
Oh yes you can! :D

My Chromebook is old, but I installed my favorite Linux, Kubuntu, on it, because I simply couldn't accept Chromebook's idea of Linux. Specifically, its inability to install and use programs locally, and save data locally. They wanted me to do everything with their apps, in their cloud, and that's not for me.

My CB has a big hard drive--an option I made sure I added when buying it. After I got done with it, the CB looked and acted just like all my other computers. I use my default browser/e-mail client, SeaMonkey on it, along with LibreOffice, the GIMP, and all the other programs I choose to use on my other computers.

I noted that my CB is old for a reason: newer CBs have the option built-in for installing your preferred Linux distro. So you might want to think about doing that. I did it the brute force way! :)

Although I have no ChromeBook, I do have to believe that if it has Chrome, then it must also use Android System Webview.

Chrome needs this app in order to function. (In my experience on Android).

What this means is that you should be able to install any browser that also uses Android System Webview.

This is a good thing, because many browsers do, and some of these are much better than Chrome- faster, more secure, less/no tracking, etc.

I'm sure you have heard me repeat myself repeatedly...
