Only some photos lost from gallery

I know your frustration.

So I will suggest two apps that might help you out.

Simple Gallery Pro - Photo Manager & Editor (Browse your memories without any interruptions.) - https://f-droid.org/app/com.simplemobiletools.gallery.pro

https://systweak-android-cleaner.en.uptodown.com/android

The 'cleaner' app above has an excellent duplicate finder.

I used it when my ollady had more than 3GB of photos and videos to go through because of duplicates.

Thanks, I'll check them out. I haven't seen any duplicates yet but I can guarantee they are out there. Hoping it is something that can clean out the actual duplicate and not the original! Just want to move on to the next problem, ha ha....a week on this one is too long! :)

Well, both (or more) will show up if there are duplicates.

Just tap on each to figure out which one to keep.

It will not delete all the duplicated files, always leaving one file on the device.

That makes it pretty darn failsafe.

And the gallery app is a great gallery that plays videos as well.

Small, simple, and customizable.

It also has a great recycle bin feature, that allows for recovery of files accidently deleted (but only if they were deleted with the app).

I'm really at a loss here - stupidly decided to move missing photos from samsung gallery from one drive into samsung gallery in hopes that I could use it again, I'm used to it and like it (guess it's just not gonna happen). I turned off syncing in google photos so I wouldn't screw up anything there as I don't know what syncs with what at this point. I copied over the stuff that was missing and except for a few that are no misdated (one of those fears I had, but not many of them) the gallery looks close to ok. But then I went into google photos on my phone and the date taken (when you scroll down thru photos it dates each group for the day above that day) is off by a couple days. Like 3 pics I know were taken on april 10 now have one under april 10 and two under april 13. This is all the way down thru. BUT, when I go into chrome browser on my desktop and into google photos everything is correct. What is going on? I'm so tired of fiddling with this. Did I completely screw this up? I've spent hours on hundreds of photos. I'm happy at this point to give up samsung gallery but not sure why my "phone" google photos doesn't match my "chrome" google photos? What should I do to be sure the phone info doesn't carry over? Should I delete google photos from my phone and reinstall? I want them to sync but afraid to turn that on now. I looked at one drive on my phone and everything looks ok at this point but it doesn't break it down by day, only by month.
So sorry to keep bugging you guys. I guess I have to live with what's there and move on with life but it's driving me nuts.

At some point you will decide when enough is enough.

I gave up giving a fat rat's *** about any of the metadata with videos and photos, and am just glad that the actual media is intact.

Remember that the media is the purpose, not the date that it was produced.

I have often found that this date can be changed by simply moving a file from A to B, even just changing folders.

With thousands of files, it quickly becomes a futile effort to worry about the dates, unless you need these for a court case or something.

Yup, you are absolutely correct and I'm pretty much done. It is what it is. This could be someone's full time job. I have everything looking fairly the same, got rid of the duplicates, although no idea if I got rid of the right ones. The sorting by days in google photos seems to have worked itself out although I have not turned on syncing again, kinda afraid but will probably do it tonight and whatever happens, happens.
