No email notifications

What is your e-mail provider, and what app?

Is it G-Mail?
Does your e-mail address end with
@gmail.com?

If so, there are at least three things that need to coordinate in order for your notifications to work.

1. Your device has global (entire device) notification settings that must be set to be seen/heard.

2. Your device has notification settings for each individual app that must be set to a level of importance in order to be seen/heard.

3. Your e-mail app itself has settings of its own, inside the app. These must also be set to e
where they will be seen/heard.

Check all this, and if you are using G-Mail I can give more detailed instructions if you can't get them to work.

This is to do with Android Forums email notifications, right? :)

Was Android Forums e-mail notifications mentioned?

No, all I saw was e-mail notifications.

Well, at least that narrows it down a bit.

I will assume that OP is getting other e-mail notifications then, correct?
E-mail notifications are working, just not from this forum?

We have opposite problems.
I have been trying to turn mine off.
I have turned them off repeatedly, but I keep getting e-mails.

And now, when I spent 10 minutes looking for the e-mail notifications, I can't find them anymore.

Oh well.

I happened to notice where this was posted by the OP from the general / timeline list only because I also posted a thread here / there about the same kinda thing.
I couldn't / can't turn off alerts in general but now I only get constant alerts from the Forum Games section where I'm most active and I kinda understand the reasoning for that but it does fill up my inbox (Yahoo) and I'm obviously afraid of deleting something else.

I too now can't find the tick boxes for this. Maybe someone is under the hood with a can and an oily rag.
I'm also being / was / will be pestered by the slash symbol but that could be my mental state.
(italics go away!) :p :)

OP I'm not sure but I think these are known issues that may be fixed. I'm fairly new but I'll look again on a pc.

Could the notifications go to spam for some reason?

Have you gone to Preferences as well as Alert Preferences. I also use the mobile website on my phone, or full website on a home pc.
If I tap Preferences currently on the mobile site the result is blocked by the overlay or whatever that doesn't move away, so I select desktop site to fix.

Other than that idk, you seem to have the opposite issue.

Have a look here, but I presume you've done this : Screenshot_20200715-142213.png Screenshot_20200715-142731.png Screenshot_20200715-143030.png

It didn't need to be--this is the forum's "Suggestion box & feedback" board. :p :D

I think I found it at the bottom of some other thread I was on.

Sometimes confusion is entertaining.

Unfortunately, I don't do the things that I used to do to self induce confusion anymore.

So now I have to wait for others to do it for me.

Those are the settings I have. I get the alert when I open the forum, but without an email notice, I often don't realize I have a reply for several days.
That's it! There's the answer! You're not spending enough time on AF. :D

Just keep it open in its own tab in your browser, which is what I do, and pop in more often. You'll be glad you did! :)

Any further info on this?

I want to turn all e-mail alerts off, but keep the red alerts on the browser.

It's driving me so nuts I let my inbox pile up and then take a week off to delete all AF alerts - and I get all possible alerts.

I unchecked all email boxes again in Preferences - Alerts and saved. No joy.

Is it a broken or failed system update thing from yonks ago?

How come no one else complains?

Please demonstrate how stupid I am by pointing me to the bleedin' obvious.

I'll still be eternally grateful.

Thanks.
