Post Your Last Purchase

I can't speak for the high dollar models but what I bought lasted may years. I haven't had any of their replacements last nearly as long as those first appliances
We bought our first washer and dryer shortly after learning I was pregnant. If memory serves, that was our very first purchase on a credit card. Much like you, we had to pass up the fancy-schmancy models; we settled on the least expensive, but large capacity, set they had. Those suckers lasted well over 15 years! Ditto for our bottom-of-the-line first refrigerator--it finally conked out after 17 years. By then, we could afford top-of-the-line stuff, but I'll always remember fondly those first appliances, and how long they held up.

You know what, @olbriar? We sound like a couple of old fogies reminiscing about 'the good old days.' :D

I don't think I've ever seen a used appliance store before. Is there such a thing?
There used to be. But that was back when appliances were built to last many years. There were also outlet stores--I remember one in Dallas for Sears; it was near a bookstore I used to visit. They had appliances that were discontinued, 'scratch and dent' stuff, floor models, things like that. At least that's what it said on its windows.

I bought one of them last week. And so far it's survived been in the shower everyday, and battery seems to last really long. Paid equivalent of USD $9.50.

Our first washer and dryer cost us $250, they were as basic as you get, two years we spent almost $1,200 (maybe $1,300) on a washer and dryer, these are digital with multiple options

Well... if anyone cares, I pre-ordered the Note 20 Ultra and a couple of silicone cases. My next pre-order, probably today, will be the new Sony WH1000-XM4 headphones. Darling Bride commandeered (that's a more diplomatic term that "stole") my XM3 headphones... so I dropped a really strong hint that she could at least get these for me. If she decides not to, or stalls, I'll do it. These, I predict, will be in short supply by the time release date comes around in a couple of weeks.

Smart watch, meh!

How many others have a watch that uses nixie tubes?
View attachment 151552

Hand made in Belarus.

For anyone who's not familiar with nixie tubes. It's a neon tube display tech from the 1960s that runs on 180 volts, and wasn't usually used for wrist-watches.

It finally arrived a couple of days ago. Which is is actually making the thing, plus shipping it to China from Belarus.
