editing files on a nas and then saving back to nas

First post here.

My wife wants to migrate to a tablet (from PC) however all her data is on the local Nas.
I can access the files on the NAS but cant save back to it (NAS)
They appear to be saved in the cloud depending on the app used ie google docs for EG
I would prefer they be saved back to the original location

Is there any way to do this? (easily, she is not tech savvy)

While I'm at it any recommendations re apps to do modifying of existing word documents on the NAS

As for editing, without knowing what kind of files you are talking about, I will guess that it is photos and videos?

When you're referring to NAS, that's an established term for 'Network Attached Storage'. It's an actual appliance that gets added to a local network and used for storing shareable media files. It's basically a file server for a specific purpose.

In your query however, it's apparently more about editing 'office' files that are stored in an online service like Google Drive, MS OneDrive, or Dropbox, Yes?
With a NAS, this will probably be a file or folder permissions matter. With an online storage service that is likely due to a user access permissions. If the former, what NAS device do you have? If the latter, which online storage service are you using?

Sorry no, that assumption re where the files are stored is incorrect. I did not mention any of those online services as holding the files.

The first line of my question clearly says "all her data is on the local Nas" . openmedivault if we want to be specific.
I also said that i could gain access to the said files, so permissions are not an issue.

when attempting to save a modified file it appears to be sent to cloud, possibly google drive . (i assume this as i was using google docs)
What i want is the files to be saved back to the original file location on the nas ,which resides on my home network.

So depending on where the source file it located, use a file manager app to move it to her mobile device's internal storage. That original file is the primary one that all edits or copies should work off of.
And keep in mind, if that file is stored only on her device, she will risk losing it if something should happen to it (it get stolen. or lost, or it just fails in some way). Set up an automatic backup solution so there's always a backup. Seriously, backups are important.
