Android 10 LMV405EBW

I don't know either about an unlocked LG V40. But I do have Google sending me anything new about the LG V40 and so far nothing about it not working after January. I would think that Verizon would be telling me about that so they can force me to buy a new phone. But Verizon hasn't said anything yet either.

I have been told that the v40 will not work in the USA after January 1st because it is not compatible with the new VoLTE format that all carriers are converting to.
not sure who you have been talking to you, but i have not seen anything that states this. but to be honest most phones usually has a lifespan of 3-4 years so you are about a year or two away from that. you might want to start thinking about a new phone in the near future.....maybe not right away.

I use TracFone and they sent the message, so I thought dang, I have had this phone for one year and it won't work after January 1. So I went to the Verizon store, the Att store and T-Mobile store and they all confirmed that this phone is incompatible with the Volte transmission format they are all going to. Just Google Volte Compatible Phones to see the phones that are compatible.

Do not worry. I spent an hour researching our LG V40 ThinQ and VoLTE. My results follow:
1. Our phone is not on a compatibility list I found but HD calling can mean it is compatible.
2. Then I went to Google Play and used 3 different tester apps to see what they said. All three said my Verizon LG V40 ThinQ was compatible.

So I'm not going to worry.

Would you mind sending the testing app names so that I can check mine. I sure don't want to have to buy a new phone. I really like my v40. Thanks.

The easiest was Guide for VoLTE-JVR Developers.
2. VoLTE Check - Know VoLTE Status
3. 3G 4G 5G Checker - I wouldn't waste my time with this one. It has way too many ads to get thru.
Also, if you search the Google Store for VoLTE checker, you'll get a list of apps to try.
Good luck ✌️

Hopefully we'll get the update in South Africa soon as well. I feel like I'm suffering from a bad case of FOMO (fear of missing out), with everyone posting screenshots of their updates. I just want proper dark mode and better location permissions :(
Here in the USA, there are Dark themes to install for LG phones. Personally, I liked the add on theme better than Android 10's version. I'm not sure how many are still available. There is at least one.

I'm already using a dark theme from the Play store, but I want dark mode in Gmail (and it's notifications) and Google assistant. Most of my other apps are dark, so it's a bit jarring when switching between a dark and light background. I also actually prefer the Android 10 dark mode.

When you're right, you're right. Google assistant is definitely dark, but it depends on the app. If it was updated for Android 10, then it may still be light.
I am surprised that your phone hasn't been updated yet. From what I've read, I thought LG finally caught up with their "V" phones.
Good luck to you and I hope you get it soon.
