Help How to delete .nomedia from Whatsapp Folder

Hello,

I use a Sony Xperia Z2, Android phone. My Whatsapp images and videos not appearing in my gallery since 15th July 2016.

I've identified that .nomedia files in my folders is the cause of it, but I'm unable to delete the .nomedia files. Each time I delete it, it reappears!

This is becoming an issue because it's preventing my whatsapp images from syncing with Google photos as well, which is how I backup my pictures.

Does anyone know what is causing the .nomedia files to keep reappearing?
