WiMax at home & mobile w/ CLEAR+EVO?

Hi folks,

I am currently using CLEAR at home for my broadband connection (it's the best option I have in downtown Seattle, go figure) and I have pre-ordered an EVO to replace my first-gen iPhone.

So, my question is this: since I am using CLEAR WiMax for broadband at home, and Sprint's WiMax on the EVO, is there any way that you all know of that I could combine these two into one (lower-cost?) bill? I'll be using the same WiMax network right now, just paying twice for two different devices. I've purchased the modem from CLEAR, could I somehow "switch" it over to Sprint, and would it actually save me any money to do so?

Thanks ^^

If CLEAR offers the EVO as well, that's an easy choice.

The problem with me using the EVO at home as a wifi hotspot is twofold: 1) I'm not home all the time, and want to be able to access my computer and other devices that are home while I am at work. 2) The EVO is not 802.11n capable.

I'm really hoping that I can use my CLEAR modem with Sprint service. Does anyone here work with/at Sprint that could confirm/deny this possibility?

From what I have heard, take this with a grain of Salt, Sprint is not offering WiMax Home Broadband. Although Sprint owns a controlling stake in Clear and they are working together they keep business Seperate. I have also heard that Sprint will however offer WiMax Business Broadband solutions to businesses. The best thing to do would be contact Sprint sales and actually ask for. Manager right off the bat. Actually I call the Sprint business sales people because they are usually more knowledgeable.

Nope. Same network for the most part but different branding. I am in the same place as you.

Considering Clear charges something like $30-35 for home and $50-55 for home plus one laptop, you are basically just getting that for less already since the Evo is only costing you $10 more per month. If you added mobile service to Clear it would add $20. This is why I just have home even though my laptop has a Wimax radio inside. I have access to wifi at home and at work and elsewhere so I don't really need to pay extra for Wimax on my laptop.
