so just an fyi there is no need to start another thread that is basically on the same subject. having two conversations on the same thing is makes it harder to communicate effectively....so lets just use this thread to communicate about rooting your device. i alerted the mods to merge the two threads together anyways

on that note you should be able to root your device. you just need to use adb command:

Well I just visited the link and it still wants me to get the unlock key which I already tried and it got denied. It's all because this phone was previously Verizon. I'm gonna give Motorola a call and try to sweet talk em into giving me a code lol

ok yeah after doing some research verizon's motorolla phones have unlockable bootloaders. they are not on the list of devices where you can get the key code. not much you can do really at this point. next time do not get a moto device from verizon.

I didn't know it was Verizon lol. I ordered it off eBay for this specific purpose. Wait! What if I carrier unlocked it? Do you think that would change the bootloader or would I have to specifically contact Motorola?

Actually...u r wrong. I just busted a Moto G Stylus last night, that had unlocked bootloader, full root, custom ROM, custom boot logo, custom boot animation and was running a modified retus stock ROM. I've also got a Moto E that has the same things done just different animations and roms. JS...

this is thread was about rooting a moto z2 play. looking at xda, it is still not rootable. plus this thread was from 2020.
