ok lol.....i guess i can't read or i need better glasses.

No, you were correct. I hadn't put the download link yet because I was still building and testing. Small break on rom building and focusing on Recovery for a day or 2. The roms should all populate on the download server hopefully shortly. There are 7 roms so far that I built. I know Los and Lmodroid will also be showing shortly from the guys doing the device trees

So do the ROMs listed in the link work on other variants of the device, but will not work cell service-wise?

I picked one up for ~$40 of the TracFone flavor and don't much care for all the pre-installed stuff.
The Tracfone variant cannot be bootloader unlocked or even rooted, therefore you cannot install any ROMs. Tracfone is XT-2052-DL, but only XT-2052-(1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) can be unlocked. I suggest you to return the phone immediately and buy a unlockable variant if you want to enjoy any custom ROMs.

That does seem to be what will happen. I don't recall coming across that info the other day when I was just browsing the forum here. I shall return in the coming days with a new variant, thanks!

There were people with Moto E 2020 and E6 which were unsuccessful at unlocking the bootloader on the Tracfone. You can go to Motorola bootloader unlock website and check if you can unlock it. Tracfone has a long history of locking down phones. Buy a factory Unlocked, or boost, those can be unlocked.

I tried aicp and candy but experienced boot looping after installation. bootloader is unlocked. used the steps below. model is e 2020 2052-6

fastboot boot twrp-3.5.0_10-0-ginna
confirmed active slot was b
wiped all partitions
activated twrp sideload
adb sideload copy-partitions-ab.zip
rebooted to bootloader
fastboot boot twrp-3.5.0_10-0-ginna
confirmed active slot remained b
adb sideload aicp_ginna_q-15.0-UNOFFICIAL-20201227.zip
install completed to inactive slot a with no errors
rebooted to bootloader
fastboot boot twrp-3.5.0_10-0-ginna
changed active slot to a
rebooted to system
phone showed the moto bootloader unlock warning and logo screen and then boot looped

i then restored phone to factory stock image using rsd lite and tried the steps above again with candy rom. same result as the phone boot looped.

i hate a/b partition schemes as this always happens. tutorials and instructions are needed because the order of operation with ab partition schemes is required to be done correctly or you end up with bootloops. a/b partition schemes suck. we need install instructions especially because of ab partition scheme.

Also, you can just flash TWRP to slot_a and slot_b instead of just booting it every time

First off let me say thank you for all your hard work and for sharing all this. I have flashed a few of these roms but can not get my service to work. I am on Visible which is an LTE only carrier owned by Verizon. I cannot edit the APN's. If you could please tell me how to either revert back to stock firmware or add Visible I would be most grateful.

If you're willing to stick around for a couple builds, I can try to add in support for your carrier. I'm also still working on getting Boost service working. You can join our Telegram group if you'd like up to the minute releases or for support or shoot the crap

So for both myself and others that are new to A/B partitions and specifically the installation steps exclusive to this device; do we have to flash the A/B.zip and vbmeta between rom installations? What about flashing mods/kernels/modules etc after first boot?
Once twrp is on both partitions, could you not just flash both of the zips thru twrp instead of utilizing fastboot?

I have been kinda hesitant to flash any other Roms bc I wasn't absolutely positive if the above was 'every time' or not.

You only have to do the AB zip and the vbmeta 1 time before installing your first rom. Any rom installs AFTER that don't need either steps to be done again. Hope that clears it up for ya

I have Moto e 2020 XT2052-1 with build number QPGS30.82-135-5.

I have tried all the TWRP and Orangefox recoveries and the touch screen does not work on any of them. I was able to Flash Lineage recovery and install some of the custom roms available but no touch screen after they boot into the rom.

I even flashed your kernel but after that with a stock rom touch screen stops working.

I have checked in my sys/devices/virtual/touchscreen/..vendor and it shows Chipone.

any thoughts about a recovery image or why my touch screen is not working in them.

I am tech savvy and can provide you with any info you might need. I am sure Im not the only one with this issue.

Thanks so much in advance.

Did you ever find an answer? I am in the same boat, since day 1 none of the recoveries(or older, stock RETUS) will boot w/ touch.
Chipone, as well.
Unsure why dev & discussion stopped abruptly in March/April.

No i have not but im will post and follow the XDA post you gave me. Thanks

You guys have the newer chipone version, bringing the total screen variants to 3 now. The issue is known and news will be posted when it's fixed. I am not developing for this device anymore as I am currently doing the 5 Samsung Galaxy 10 devices. Check out the telegram links for up to the minute updates, as that's where we all are. I can point you to the guy who did the device trees for ginna
