Help Tips to conserve battery life?

My Incredible's battery only lasts about 4 hours. What can I do to make it last longer?

Here are a few suggestions from the MANY MANY threads dealing with this issue (and the ones I used to be successful)

1. Download and install the power bar. Turn off what you are not using at the time.

2. Set your refresh and push to not check every 10 min.

3. Install System Panel App/Task Killer (works best for me) and kill what's running in the background.

4. Charge FULLY by charging until your light is green, then turning off your phone and seeing your indicator light is red again, charge until it's green.

5. Repeat step 4 until you can turn off your phone and the light REMAINS green. Otherwise it is only about 90-92% charged. This alone will give you an extra hour or two.

6. FINALLY stop playing with it all the time. ;)

7. OR You can buy a 2150 mAh battery.

Turn off Wifi and BT when not in use. Use System Panel to end un-needed programs; exclude apps that the system needs all the time (like a live wallpaper, widgets, etc) and end apps after you exit them once in a while (a few games, for example, continue to run if you just hit the "home" key).

When charging, after the green light comes on, turn your phone off. It will continue to charge for about another 20 minutes.

If you are in a low-service area (on the edge of coverage) put the phone into airplane mode if you don't need it (at night, work, etc).

Last, but not least, Take a break and put the phone down for a while ;)

And I feel like changing your mail refreshing off of instant basically defeats the purpose of having push e-mail.

And using Advanced Task Killer to kill programs in the background isn't really going to do a whole lot unless you're killing tasks that are actually running and using the CPU. There are many threads on this. Depending on what task killer you're using, it could actually be bad. Some are poorly programmed and will kill things that you don't want it to. If you really want to use one, I'd suggest Advanced Task Killer, which will kill itself upon action and won't affect anything else unless you choose so.

WiFi will actually save battery compared to using the Mobile Network for data. On WiFi, the phone doesn't have to do as much work to connect (think about the distance to the router vs. the distance to a tower).

Actually, I have my phone in my hands VERY OFTEN throughout the day. I hit the refresh button when I am ABLE to check my email, I get it pushed through. I don't always do this but often enough to save battery life.

This is also false. With the Task Killer I suggested, it shows active apps and background apps. When I see apps that I just used or opened, ie. meridian or a game, I close them. I close Google Voice which is ALWAYS running, I close city Id, I close ALL apps that don't need to use my cpu b/c I'm not using them. It has given me good results. If it didn't for you that is is fine, the question was what CAN he do, I simply told him what he COULD do and what works for me. I'm pretty sure in your post, you didn't give any new advice, just criticized what didn't work for you.

DO NOT install an Antivirus app or an ATK. Droid doesnt need them. I improved my battery life by uninstalling these. Not sure why I got them in the first place. Also if im not using net for a period of time I turn Mobile Network off. I get on avg. 15- 18 hours at least.

word. After the first couple of cycles, my battery life got WAY better. I get up at 5 am and go to bed weekdays about 10pm and have battery power all day...but really, I'm never very far from my car charger or home charger...I pretty much don't get the 14% warning any more.

Do all of the above. And go to eBay and type in "HTC incredible battery @ charger" . Got two batteries and a wall charger for $13.50 and I don't worry about it anymore!

I ordered the same batteries and charger and was excited to get them....Until I put them in my phone. I literally watched the battery meter drop from 98 (the highest it ever went) to 90 is less than 2 minutes. And this was from a fresh restart.
My stock 1300ma actually lasts longer than the 1500's for whatever reason. I'm using those as my backup for when I can't get to power.

Generally speaking I'm getting about 12-15 hours with GPS/WI-FI and the rest turned on.

OH yeah! One more IMPORTANT thing. If you just got your phone, give it a week or so of charge cycles. I found that after that amount of time I went from 6-8 hours to 16-18 hours of charge with no differences in usage. Not sure why that is, but it was true for me.

On average now if I am VERY cautious and want to try it, I can get 26-30 hours on a full charge. Otherwise, I get 16-18 hours pretty much routinely, more than enough to get me through the day and charge over night.:)

I'm get great battery life with those I got off ebay, as a matter of fact they last a little longer than the stock battery. As a side note the first order I received the charger was defective and would only charge the batteries to 50%. I emailed them about it and they sent me two new batteries and a charger at no extra cost and the charger I got with the second order charges them to a 100%. So maybe your charger is not charging them to 100%.
