Need Help MUST diable DO NOT DISTURB !!

Hello all,

I have a major problem that will force me to ditch an android phone and move to Apple because I cannot get my phone to turn off DO NOT DISTURB and no matter what i do it stays on.

I can shut it off temporarily, but it turns it self on again and is always on after a reboot.

If my boss cannot get a hold of me again due to this issue I will be FIRED from my job.

I need to know if anyone has successfully done this or is it impossible.

No "try this" or "try that", I need a 100% proven method or "No not possible" answer please.

Android version 10

Thanks for any help the community can provide.

why blame this on android in general? my note 10+ does not have this issue.

try putting the phone in safe mode and see if that fixes the issue. if it does not then i would try a factory reset.

So are you saying to put the phone into Safe Mode, turn off the DND and restart, or do I need to leave it in safe mode for a few days to see if the problem reappears in safe Mode?

How often does it happen? You'd need to leave it in safe mode long enough to confirm that it doesn't happen in safe mode. If it still hasn't occurred after that then you know that it's one of the apps you have installed that's responsible. The problem then is tracking down which. I'd suggest installing some app that can summarise which apps have which permissions (I use Addons Detector, but there are others) and then see which apps can change system settings, audio settings, or anything else this might be. Then see whether any of those might do this as part of their operation. If you can't find any it then becomes a game of identifying which app is doing this because it's buggy (harder).

Of course if this does happen in safe mode that proves it's not one of the apps you have installed but something in the system or one of the pre-installed apps.

The most obvious thing is to check whether your DND settings tell it to come on on some schedule or in response to some event (e.g during calendar events)? Then if you have any automation app installed (Tasker, Macrodroid etc) whether it includes a task that might do this? Might also be worth checking that none of your calendar apps have an option to silence/DND the phone during appointments. These are things I'd do first, as they just involve looking at a few apps' settings (or system setting for DND).

Finally, is there any pattern to when it starts?

Sorry no "100% answer", but those tend only to exist for problems that have been seen before. And that's the problem here: what you describe is neither normal nor common, so we can only speculate as to what is causing it and hence what the fix is.

as @Hadron suggested, you will leave it in safe mode until you know if the issue still persists or not.

safe mode prevents 3rd party apps from running. if the issue stops in safe mode, then we know an app is the cause. if it still happens, then you might have a software glitch and maybe a factory reset might be in order.

Wow, excellent info ! There is no pattern I can surmise, except that it always seems to be in DND mode when its most unwanted. Today for example I came into the kitchen to see a phone call in the process of hanging up and thought thats odd, why don't I hear the phone ringing... So I picked it up and sure enough its in DND mode. So I check the settings (for the umpteenth time) and since I found nothing has changed in settings, I turn off the DND & perform a restart. Well, wouldn't you know, it restarted in DND mode! Did this 6x in a row, so that was the precipitous for this post.

And I agree its neither normal or a common thing. I will start my phone Sunday when I wake up in Safe Mode and will leave it there, and will report back what happens. It may be a few days till I post back, unless it goes into DND mode quickly in SM.
I appreciate the feed back from everyone, I now have hope that I might be able to correct the problem

I finally found out what is causing the DND to come on, it is turning the phone over and it would turn on the DND.

I found it due while researching another issue and that is the volume turning itself all the way down by itself, and while looking into the volume issue I figured both out.it is called the-

Flip for DND
is that an app?
