Safe charging from a vehicle cigar socket.

I have a Samsung J6 and a growing collection of cables for various requirements but since I read that it might not be safe to charge my phone directly from a vehicle cigar socket for various reasons, ( I'm not sure of the correct name) so I'm am looking for advice.
Firstly, is there a cable that fits into vehicle cigar socket one end and fits into the standard Samsung J6 charging point at the other end and if so is it safe?
If it is not safe to charge a phone with such a cable is the a transformer that acts as safe charger for this purpose with the appropriate sockets?

Kate, many thanks for your reply but as an aging not very technical person the display on charging devices reminded me of getting lost in a sweet shop as a boy. So, would anyone care to suggest one of those devices that is SAFE, i.e. safer than just plugging any device into the charging point if possible with a cable fitted onto the device that has a plug at the end that fits a Samsung J6.

been charging my phone with the cigarette lighter in my car a very long while. never had any issues with it. don't know where you got that info from. but of course i'm here in the US and do not know how the rest of the world's car cigarette lighter ports are.
You are doubtlessly correct and what I read may be absolutely waffle. I asked my children and all replied they had never had a problem but as a confirmed worrier I don't want to be the first.

There is no simple cable with a phone connector on one end and a car connector on the other. Only power adapters that plug into the car socket and convert the 12 volts from the car to 5 volts. The adapter will either have a USB socket to plug your phone charging cable into, or a permanently attached cable that plugs into the phone. Either type is safe as long as the connectors match, your phone probably has a standard micro-USB socket for charging although some newer ones have USB-C.
So you won't blow up your phone. It is a good idea though to stick with better-known brand names for these accessories. The no-name cheapies tend to be of lesser quality and more likely to fail.

Anker chargers have a good reputation, this one is highly rated but you will need a cable:

Online specs say the J6 has a micro-USB port, Anker USB-A to micro-USB cable:

Many thanks for your help. Could you recommend brand name preferably not from China.

Well unfortunately just about everything is made in China, even the name brands, but you're still better off with those.
I'd stick with ones like Belkin, Anker, of course the official Samsung ones as well. These will cost more but will also perform better and last longer.
