Is your Note 4 having freezes, errors and random reboots? Here's your explanation...

After nearly 3-1/2 years of back & forth, attoneys for class plaintiffs demonstrated that Samsung knowingly released the Galaxy Note 4 with a defective eMMC memory module. The Court has approved Samsung's settlement in the case.

I signed on to this class two years ago and just got the check yesterday. If you were not aware of this lawsuit, make sure you sign up for the newsletter. A lot of known defective products & services are out there!

Too late - I'm very sure the window for the Note 4 class closed a LONG time ago.

I recommend you subscribe to the newsletter at that website, because they track all these things. We bought a refrigerator that is under a class action because the manufacturer put it on the market, knowing the compressor was prone to failure. Yep: compressor failed and we lost a refrigerator/freezer loaded with food. It was repaired under extended warranty but what about our lost groceries? Class action settlement has a default payment of $250 for property loss.

Did it give you much issues when you were using it?

Absolutely! Like many Note 4 users, I was frustrated with freezes, crashes and random reboots. We thought we were doing something wrong... it turns out that Samsung had released the Note 4 with a defective eMMC memory module that they KNEW was defective. Yet they were under pressure to release it on schedule, so out it went.

This is all ancient history, just like the Note 7 was. Is there any new Samsung smart-phone news?

Yes, plenty! I try to keep this thread up to date, but August 11 and 11 AM Eastern is the next Unpacked Event for awesome new stuff:

And while it's ancient history, litigation takes years in some cases: this was one of them, because Samsung continued to file motions to dismiss. The courts kept denying the motions, finding merit in the case based on compelling evidence.

What? Class Action Lawsuit? I didn't get any money

If you did not sign on as a plaintiff member of the class, you would not. But this was years ago... water under the bridge. That's why I get emails from Top Class Actions, so I know what's going on. The Note 4 isn't the only consumer product knowingly sold with critical faults.
