Unusually high load from system

5G is not great.
In fact, it's not even good.
The concentration of towers required to make it work as advertised may never occur in many areas.

Did you move from a high population area to a lesser populated area?
If so, cellular service will be degraded.
And if the signal is weak, the device uses more power to maintain a connection- and is always seeking for a better one.

Yet at this point in time, all I would have wanted, was a proper successor. Same design language... at most, a new radio to connect to 5G.

Until someone makes that, and a battery maker can give a high enough capacity upgrade, I literally can't be arsed to care what phone makers do deign to give us. But not having an agreeable option at any price point, is a problem. And I refuse to settle, for as good as that did me when I tried to settle with the MXPE. Never again.

Off charge since 6:40 AM.
At work since 8.
Just dropped to 95% as I type.
No offense meant when I say this, but, data or it didn't happen.
Show me facts. Show me measurements. Show me screenshots verifying your findings.

When I say I've never had a sealed battery phone, that gave enough life to handle a day with me, I'm basing that off tools like GSam, which measure screen on time, and averages expected life per charge. GSam om Android, and its equivalent on a loaned iPhone 5, told me that no sealed phone yet, has given more than three hours of screen on. Even on a fresh, known good battery.

Since signal was brought up, and I had a moment of downtime while waiting at one of the schools here, i took this screenshot of LTE discovery. (See attached)

Based on your screenshots, you had a screen usage total of... 49 minutes.

Even on a normal day, I'm way above that. Discord, surfing, videos, streaming... and this is even without having to contend with working in 100+ F weather every day.

Your moto would start the day with me at 4am and be dead by 8am. Guaranteed.

That isn't my Moto.
That is my piece of poop Z3351S, literally the worst device I have.

Anyway, I work 10 hour days with no lunch and no breaks.

This is legal because I get paid for all 10 hours that I am there.
'Eat when you can' is the motto.

And it was over 90°F today in the shop, with humidity at 98% when the day started, dropping to around 57% by 6PM.

What on Earth sort of 'work' allows you to diddle with Discord and streaming such tripe while being paid?

Two words: Split shifts. So with the present bit of summer work I'm doing, I have like... two hours between each shift with eff all to do but eat and wait.

Even in some other departments, a bit of project management skills can have you waiting for up to half an hour if you layer your tasks to such a point so that you're then waiting for the last bit of cleaning of machinery to complete/sanitize/et al. It happens. Or even when I was working the cleaning solo, then I'm within my right to just slap on my headphones and put on some music. Or when Twitch was promoting to donate to GDQ if they reach X number of peak viewers, load up Twitch app and basically let it play to do my part to keep those numbers up. Anyways, back on point...

Yeah, this summer I have about four hours a day at work with eff all to do but wait for the next shift.

I know that T-Mobile keeps trying to nag me to accept their free tablet promo, but... let's be real. I have zero use for a tablet. To me, it would at best, be another thing I have to mind and keep charging. And the free one is kind of crap. If it were an nvidia shield tablet, I might then have a use case for it, since then it would give me impetus to VPN to my home and stream pc games to it. But as that isn't a use case, well... I'd have wayyyy more use out of a game-worthy notebook before I'd ever have a reason to have a Tablet.

Then again, for the kind of prices phone makers nowadays want for a trashy sealed phone, I'd almost still be better off paying current scalper prices for a heckin' GPU. Even then, I have no reason to ever spend four digits on a GPU; even less for a phone.

Sounds like you have a union job, lol.
My ol'lady works union, and 12 hour shifts.

Most of which is spent sitting on ass, lol.

Well, an update from me, since it has been long enough.

Decided to give a spin of LineageOS, since there are no new Resurrection Remix ROMs anymore, and Lineage seems to be the only one still getting updates at this time. Mercifully, I was able to continue using TWRP; and its update script is even compatible with that recovery too.

I do miss some of the tinkering levels of customization, but it really is about as simple as an Android ROM gets. Reminds me of the old days of AOKP on the S 3. Battery usage from system is also measurably better; at least, GSam reports an average of an extra hour of screen on time since the ROM switch.
