Alerts killing bluetooth connection

Hi. I recently switched phones and now alerts from my workout app is killing bluetooth connection to ONE of my headphones, killing music on the right ear. Left keeps playing...

Old phone: Huawei Honor 8
New phone: ASUS Zenfone 8
Headphones: Sony WF-SP700N
Music app: Spotify
Workout app: Fitness Point Pro

I know I can stop alerts from interrupting Spotify by turing off alert sound and just get alerted by vibration, but I really need the sound to play, I'm not registering the vibrations when I'm working out. Any thoughts on how to keep bluetooth connection on both ears after an alert?

First, try using a different music app and see if the problem persists.

This will narrow down what app is causing it, as to what settings to look into.

If it happens with another music app, then it might not be Spotify, but a bluetooth or notification setting on the device.

If it does not happen with another music app, then it is a setting within Spotify.

It's very odd that notifications are knocking out the right channel/ear only. I've heard of notifications stopping music playing completely, but to only affect one channel. I'm wondering if there's an issue between these Sony earbuds and this particular Honor phone? Does it happen with other BT headsets or speakers? I've often used Sony BT headphones with a Huawei phone, and not had this problem at all.

Just to clearify: It was not a problem with my old phone (Huawei Honor 8) but it is a problem with my new phone (ASUS Zenfone 8). And the music stops on both ears when alert is making sound, but then the left ear reassumes playing music, while the right ear is dead.
