Root Trying to Root LG G7 ThinQ

I'm trying to root my phone but it doesn't seem to work for some reason. I'm very new to this. Is my version (LMG710AWM30e) rootable?

At one point, I was trying to use Qualcomm and I even got the USB to show up in Device Manager. Then, one restart later, it didn't any more. No idea why.

I keep typing the commands from the guide into the elevated command prompt but I just get errors or it doesn't find the phone.

Can someone lend me a little help?

what guide are you using? do you have a link? can you post a screenshot of the commands and their output?

can't help you if you do not give us more details on what your trying to do.

I'm using Windows 10 (probably part of the problem) and trying to root an LG G7 G710AWM (I think it's Android 7 or 7.1). I want to spoof Pokémon Go through Magisk and Smali.

I've been switching between guides on that xda-developers forum. I will post the links from my laptop (on my mobile atm) but I've been switching between them, trying to see if I can get further in any particular one.

The adb commands always fail due to it not knowing what to do with adb. I thought I installed it but maybe I didn't do it correctly. The other common error I get is the one where it tells me the file/command is in the place I'm running PowerShell from but that it can't find/run it for some reason. Again, apologies, I know that description sucks. I'll post screenshots, etc, tomorrow.

Thank you for your help.

Here is one of the guides I've been trying to use:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...y-g7-thinq-except-g710tm-with-photos.4168771/

I'm trying to put the phone in EDL mode like it says to (hold PWR and Vol-, press Vol+ when screen goes back) but I'm not having much success. I wanted to look at the video to know how I would tell it's in that mode but I can't seem to see it.

Checking the device manager but I don't see any Qualcomm showing up. So I'm guessing my phone is off but not in EDL mode. What am I doing wrong in this process? Do I have to let it cycle through starting up and shutting down (due to me holding the PWR and Vol- buttons) until it finally goes into EDL mode?

Wondering if maybe I installed Qualcomm wrong and that is should be using WWAN rather than Ethernet. I will try to do it that way and see if I get some better results.

Thank you.

Do you happen to know where I could find the "last working android and build version" KDZ?

EDIT: Maybe I'm misunderstanding. The guide says "open LG firmware extract and click open in KDZ row and select downloaded firmware kdz". I thought KDZ might be a file extension but someone said it was an apk file. Can anyone clarify this?

Thank you, that does help.

This is the command prompt after I followed these instructions:
9. Enter your phone’s unique Device ID. You can view the Device ID by connecting your phone to the PC using a USB cable and entering "adb reboot bootloader" in DOS command window of the folder you created in previous step (for example: C:\tools). Your phone will reboot into the fastboot mode. Enter "fastboot oem device-id" in DOS command window.

I'm guessing it isn't sensing my device. Is that what you understand?

I'm guessing I screwed something up.

I'm following this guide (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ewer-lg-phones-from-edl-or-9008-mode.4213851/) and this is what it says:
"Step 8 : boot your device in fasboot which is currently in EDL mode, to do so press Power + Volume down button and ready to leave Power as soon as phone restart while keep pressing Volume down
a. open command prompt in adb folder and verify device connectivity by
fastboot devices
* it must show a device something like LMV35EAWx."

However, my screenshot is showing a device labeled ???. Does anyone know if there's anything I can do about this?
