I keep my phone on vibrate most of the time and I've found that when I'm on the phone talking to someone and I get a new email, the phone vibrates so I can hear it, which is great.
BUT... the caller on the other end hears it too and they always end up saying 'WTF was that noise'? LOL...

Anyone else experienced this and/or know how to turn this off so callers don't hear the vibrate mode too? :)

I have had the same issue. Happened just last night.

it would seem the mic is just picking up the noise of the phone vibrating... I wouldn't think that the phone actually makes an audible vibrate noise that goes through the speaker...

Isnt that the same thing? o_O

Anyway, it happens with text messages too. The person on the other end asks what that was and its just annoying to me.

The difference is, is that it is not a software bug that can be fixed. It is a noise the phone is making from vibrating that the phone picks up on. It can't be turned off, unless you turn off the phones vibrate.

Well technically it could be classified as a software "bug". Basically they would just need to update the OS so that the phone doesn't vibrate on notifications when you are in the midst of a call. They could make a short audible beep tghrough the speaker on notifications like blackberries do.

oh my gosh. I was read this thread 10 minutes ago and was like "I wonder if that'll happen to me?" Just got off the phone and *I* was on the receiving end of someone getting a text on the Incredible. It was soooo loud and hurt my ear. I was like two sharp almost high pitched buzzes in my ear. That's lame, ugh.

ok, I am new... and well am currently still an AT&T customer cause my Inc wont arrive till the 24th, but on my iPhone...(I know I know) I would get emails and surf the web while on a call, I was under the impression that the Inc could receive email and text (with wifi off) while on a call. Was I led astray by a number of Vz sales reps? Even if I was I am still looking forward to the switch... AT&T actually dropped my call to 911 Saturday.. you can imagine my level of pissed off. Thanks for the answer everyone! (and yes the vibrating in my ear was iritating and the other caller could hear the iPhone vibrate too!)

You can NOT talk and get e-mails with the wi-fi off. Verizon will not have that ability, at least until LTE come out, at this time.

Funny, I thought it was just me! I've only had it happen on one call so far. I thought the person I was talking to was way over exaggerating how bad it was. I guess it IS that bad.
Haha, my friend claims it sounds like a duck as well. Thing is, lots of phones do this. So this isn't anything new or exclusive to the Incredible. iPhones do it too.

Did anyone ever find a viable solution to this? I can't stand that the phone does this, I wish that while I was in call it would just beep through the ear piece or something instead.
Handcent can beep through the earpiece, all just for your ears to hear. :)

And to the iPhone user asking about text and email while on a voice call: You can receive and send texts, but not email (unless you're on wifi). That's just a limitation with Verizon's type of network. It's a CDMA network, not GSM like AT&T.
