In my day ...

In my day, late 70s early 80s, Boy was a rebel punk brand in London, and NOT a mainstream fashion brand in China.

BTW the German teachers and I have had few discussions and laughs about this popular fashion brand.

Apparel like this is a common sight around the Jinan Foreign Language School campus, often worn by students.

in my day in London, Boy was a punk brand, hated by parents, and you'd certainly never see it in schools in the UK.

Yes, yes, yes …
And sooooooo many more. The days went by and the nights were better.

in my day (last month) i drove up to a local grocery store . Just before getting out this clerk was outside rounding up carts. I happened to be watching him the moment he let out the biggest and obviously very VERY wet sneeze all over the cart and handle of one of the carts. not once stop then cover… .. just sneezed and kept on going into the store .

I understand in some religions that's considered a blessing.

I'm older than that list or I remember things that didn't make the list.

Strike anywhere matches
Wooden clothes pins
78 rpm records
Fountain pens
Cast iron toys
Pot metal toys
Indian head pennies
Buffalo head nickels
Silver dollars
Two dollar bills
Steel pennies
Wooden bridges
Radio mysteries
4 cent postage

Need I go on? :)

I hear you. I wish I didn’t, but…

.25/gallon gas
Bakelite telephones that broke badly lid dropped (or maybe I could say phones with lots of electrical tape on the receivers!)
Mail delivery twice daily
Morning and afternoon paper
Flood irrigation via ditch systems
School nurses that actually administered medications/vaccines
When the exhaust of every vehicle on the road STUNK
I guess we could go on all day!

(At least until our memories failed…!)

Just confirming I'm old as I know all these things.

Ingteresting about the $2 bill. They are the longest lasting currency in circulation because people think they are rare, even though they are not. The federal reserve just doesn't print many because they don't pull many from circulation.

Let's not forget doctors making house calls and wringer "washing machines".
I once met my family doctor at his office in the middle of the night. My first born was violently ill. He prescribed something and then called the pharmacist who I met at his drugstore also in the wee hours. I was home treating my little one and they went back home to family and bed. I will always commend them for their dedication to treat the ill.

I can remember when there was no such thing as spam phone calls or spam mail. Adds were a special insert in the Sunday paper that could easily be passed over if one desired.

One of my friends that was my grandmother's friend, did pay house calls over at her cottage.First discovery of my acid reflux and a cold..
