I did watch it. First episode had me intrigued. I did like the show but I ended up finding another on Netflix after watching it called Alice in Borderland. Similar concept but so far I'm liking it better. But definitely check it out if you liked squid game.
have not seen that one yet. it is on my list....and yes in principle it seems very similar. it does get sooooo much better. i think episode 2 is a bit slower but it develops on what happens in episode 3.

Squid Games reminds me of Hunger Games, but way more sadistic.

Not seen it (believe it or not I don't even have a Netflix account - or anyone else's password ;)), but the scenario as I understood it, that the game itself isn't lethal but losing it is, made me think of Stephen King's pseudonymous novel "The Long Walk".

That said, The Hunger Games shared a lot of elements with The Long Walk (totalitarian regime, teenagers taking part in an annual contest for the entertainment of others, life-changing prize for the sole survivor).

Yeah I can't believe that you do not have a Netflix account. It's no surprise that they are the leader in streaming right now. There are some really good movies and shows that they exclusively offer. You are missing out..... that is for sure.

so i watched Alice in Borderland and yes it has some similarities. but for me, Squid Games is soooo much better because of the circumstances the characters are in. Squid Games is set up not in a distant future, but something that can actually happen right now.

there are some real world stuff that is happening in South Korea that happens in the show:
    https://www.latimes.com/world-natio...me-is-a-real-temptation-in-todays-south-korea

i think for this reason, people can connect with the characters. everybody playing in the games are in some form of desperation. it is why what happens to them is so much more tragic.

also i think the music and set design is something that no one has seen before. it is something that can be a part of pop culture.

though Borderlands is good.....you can't say that it is something unique about it. but if you show me an image of the guards from Squid Game, i would recognize it. or if you play a part of the music from the show, you bet i would know this.

i really recommend watching it, if you have not already.
